About this project

If this project succeeds, I will distribute the fine art thank-you rewards and release this painting to the public domain. I'm happy to read your emailed questions and comments!

Mrs. Russel and Graduate Alumni Relations at Princeton University commissioned my watercolor for Dean Russel's Christmas card in 2007. Their cat Gulliver looks at a snow sculpture in their front yard. The snow kitten was removed from the final Christmas card.

You can keep reading if you'd like to see the contract-looking version of the project.

+ Wait up to 5 business days for each backer to provide one mailing address in the 48 contiguous United States for physical rewards
+ and then for each of those addresses, submit physical "Backer Rewards" to the United States Postal Service, commercial courier, or the backer address in person within 10 business days of the scheduled project expiration.

My time as a young researcher in physics inspires many of my pieces. I create impressions of nature, illustrate scientific concepts, and paint buildings of scholarship. My art reveals learning processes: nature paints perceptions, we frame its art in conceptual boxes, and we gather ourselves in the boxes of the academy.

My published scientific illustrations include a figure in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. I was commissioned for a watercolor Princeton University printed on Christmas cards sent to 2500 graduate alumni. The English Wikipedia’s front page has featured my watercolor of Cleveland Tower as “Picture of the Day."

Born in Red Bank, NJ and raised in California, I paint scenery from both States and from frequent travel. I received a B.S. in Physics from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, CA and an M.A. in Physics from Princeton University.
