Notes on Presentation and how to shoot the in the second part of Battlefield Cant
"Gentlemen, we are being killed on the beaches. Let us go inland and be killed."
~General Norman Cota, June 6th 1944 Omaha Beach Normandy.
Nearing the close of Battlefield Cant’s Kickstarter we are less than $200 dollars away from the goal, and for this I give my sincere thanks to those friends and unknown folks who have supported the project thus far.
Regarding the rewards, I want to make sure that everyone who has pledged is over satisfied with their reward. This means topnotch printing, and excellent presentation. I pledge to spend many a long night in the darkroom to ensure that the silver images are printed to the best of my ability. I made my first print at Colonia High School’s Year Book Club darkroom when I was 15 so I feel confident that I can make the silver sing in full tonal range and draw you into the images. The single prints will come matted and ready to be slipped into a standard frame, they won’t be shoved into an envelope and forgotten in a pile in your closet, you are going to want to hang them in a prominent place in your home or office. The sets of 3 prints will be presented in a custom portfolio that you will be proud to have in your collection. Lastly I have sourced a nice 5x7 Folder to present the 4x6 Pigment Beach Prints in that can be displayed with the vial of sand.
More and more, I am thinking about how to pull off the next leg of the project and am contemplating the photo shooting in Belgium. It’s going to be difficult, because I must have snow on the ground and be there after a storm. I’m thinking of being flexible, and booking a last minute flight a few days after a snowstorm and around a nice cold front. The last thing I want to be when I’m shooting in Bastogne is comfortable. The images must be desperate, like the GI’s who fought there.
Thank you once again,
David Brommer

Thank you note - Signed 4x6 pigment print with vial of sand from the landing beach - Cyanotype Triptych of the American landing points in Normandy. This is a wonderful and unique image of the three landing battlefields where American forces began the liberation of France and printed with a classic alternative process, the cyanotype. The image is moody, and blue, like the memories of the beaches and cliffs.
