It was at quite a young age that Dave Nenner began to perform music on the oboe and clarinet in his elementary school concert band; but it was not until his fingers felt the depth of what could be created on the guitar, that he truly embraced the concept of songwriting.  Dave was inspired by the sounds of the late 60s and early 70s when he first picked up a guitar at the age of 13.  Hendrix, Clapton, Page, The Doors—and then came his discovery of the early 90s:  Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins—these influences combined to map out an eclectic landscape that would forever shape his view on songwriting. 

Dave began performing in bands around the Baltimore area at the age of 16.  His experiences in such hard rock bands as Oddzar, Cylix, To A Science, and Earthborn, gave way to over 60 songs, 5 albums, and a wealth of experience in songwriting.  After fine-tuning his skills, Dave joined forces with former Earthborn guitarist Jeff Klein in 2006, and began writing the songs that would ultimately shape the sound of his next band, Truth Be Told.  Jeff had been writing material with drummer Steven Sladki, who added an undeniable strength to the Truth Be Told sound.  The chemistry between these three was then amplified by adding bassist Kamari Sumner.  The 4-piece had recorded their full-length album “Artificial Hero” by the end of 2007, throughout a year and a half of regional touring.  Unfortunately, due to Jeff’s health problems in 2009, the band decided to call it quits; but the remaining three members were not finished making music together. 

Steven began performing with We Are Black Birds in 2009, Kamari filled in on bass for a number of acts, while Dave dove into the songwriting process as a solo artist.  This next year had Dave not only writing and recording 3 EPs from his home studio, but he also contributed vocal, guitar, percussion, and electronic programming work to over 40 new pieces of music, spanning multiple genres and over 7 projects.  With this creativity outpouring, he knew it was time to regroup with Steven and Kamari to finish what they started with Truth Be Told, but this time as a trio.  The Trio was their new name for the project.  Taking the leftover pieces of the material they had been writing before Truth Be Told disbanded, adding new songs from Dave’s solo collection, and joining forces with engineer and producer Brian Shealey, The Trio jumped head-first into the studio at the end of 2010 to record their debut EP, “Spinning the Globe”. 

However, due to the band’s lack of funding, scheduling difficulties, and prior commitments, the songs for the EP were never released; nor were they even mixed.  A powerful new sound, an eager group of musicians, held back by the costly fees required to complete and perfect the sound they so badly wanted to share with the world. 

The Trio has now picked acclaimed producer, friend and engineer of their earlier album with Truth Be Told, Drew Mazurek (Linkin Park, Head Automatica, Nothingface, Dog Fashion Disco, etc), to mix tracks that will become the songs for “Spinning the Globe”.  This Kickstarter campaign is the next chapter in the ongoing saga of The Trio.  Become one of our “backers” to become part of what promises to be the most personal and special recording the members of The Trio have ever done.  Thank you.
