Every dollar counts. Share in our idea. If your dollar helps make this a reality you will be able to buy the LilyPad online or hopefully someday, at an Apple Store near you. Be a part of making a cool product and help us do our part to reduce carbon emissions by using solar power in our daily lives. The LilyPad could be the start of so much more.

You don't have an iPad or know anyone who has one but you're someone that likes the LilyPad and wants to really help us make a difference. We appreciate that tremendously. With your help we will be making much more as this is only the beginning. Thank you.

You probably thought you couldn't afford your very own power station. For a pledge of $165 or more you will be one of the first to receive a new Lilypad, tested and certified once they are manufactured (which has already started). This is a private KickStarter only promotion you'll be a part of. Pick your color and let us know if you want it for iPad1 (black) or iPad2 (choose the design). You'll receive your LilyPad weeks before they are available at www.LilyPadCase.com and at a lower rate. Every bit helps us start, thank you. [add $10 for international shipping please]. There are iPad leather cases alone out for over $100. This has a bit more. At $165 this is a luxury within reach, you'll have an iPad case you can be proud of - you'll have a LilyPad.
Estimated delivery: Oct 2011Pledge $235 or more

Pick a LilyPad any LilyPad, either the iPad or iPad 2 version and we'll also include the Travel Case specifically tailored for the LIlyPad. We put as much thought into this custom fitted iPad messenger / travel bag as we did into the LilyPad itself. There's a window to allow the light through to charge the LilyPad as you're simply walking around. There's a convenient pocket to store your phone AND charge it simultaneously while your iPad is charging off the solar LilyPad. There are plenty of pockets and storage inside the bag as well - even a hidden fold out for a water bottle. The case is treated with a wax coating giving it a water resistant finish. In short, this travel bag is just as great as the LIlyPad itself. [again, please add $10 for international shipping, thanks]. I take mine everywhere.

For a $500 pledge you’ll received a serialized, green and white “Save the Planet” Edition of the Lilypad signed via laser by the designer, Dave Foster. You'll also get the travel bag. Heck, if you live close enough to Orlando I'll visit you personally to deliver it.

Custom one of a kind color and design LilyPad! You'll also get the travel bag (custom material) and a couple new upcoming accessories as well. Actually, if you're pledging this much let me know what else you want. Signed prototype, help with your own invention, you name it. Obviously that means you're a big fan of "Green" and of the LilyPad, and I'm grateful for that.

Sheila, send me a message directly and we'll take care of you as well. We went though over 5,000 of them but unfortunately had to overcome some hurdles in the beginning stages. The new ones do work significantly better and we continue to improve them. Please reach out with a message directly (just click on "contact me") and we'll take care of you.
Creator David Foster on February 19
Louis, please send me a message directly and I'll make sure you get the revised one out to you. The first circuit board was extremely complicate but we finally got it to work in the end. Thanks for letting me know you had a problem with it, we're happy to take care of you.
Creator Sheila fernandez on February 18
Sadly, I had two separate units one that stopped working after a month and a replcement that never worked at all. I'd be happy to send both back to you in exchange for one that will work. I still have my iPad 2.
Creator Louis Schwitzer on February 18
Our two units never worked properly and promised items from the purchase never materialized. Messages went unanswered. Sorry, your press releases have preceded you into a new venture and many potential folks may give the project a second thought. And the iPad has matured into different mechanical shapes that preclude the use of a replacement even if it were offered.
Creator David Foster on February 17
Jenny, the LilyPad certainly had bugs but you did receive the revised KudoCase right? If not please send me a message directly and I'll make sure one gets out to you immediately.
Creator Jenny on February 17
It's great...for you...that you have exciting new products. But we paid for product that never worked properly and lacked promised features. Then we were told we couldn't use them because of a trademark issue but never heard back for over a year. You've turned me off crowd funding.

Hi David,
I am an early baker of the Original Lilypad for Ipad 1 and I did order an bag as well ... Up to now, I did't receive anything from you.
As I am planning to buy a iPad 4 in the next day, I would like to have a refund for what I did already pay because I have no use any more of what I did order ...
I regret because I was really a fan of your project.

Cool thanks for the Call David 547 pre-sales and dealing with bug fixes I'm sure has been a full time job I truly appreciate you giving me a call.
Creator Micheal Smith on October 16, 2012
Seriously I've contacted you like 5 times no "tech" has called me back... I've got a lilypad here that is stuck in HDMI mode and already had it replaced once to swap it out and that "didn't work" China model.
We help get a product off the ground there should be the option through Kickstarter to ship item back for refund.
Anyone want to buy these from me? I've got the very original first model I'd almost call it the "prototype" and also a USA model one stuck in HDMI mode *lol* so you have no audio.

I asked for a kudo case exchange because my iPad 3 wouldn't fit. I could have saved myself some time if I had read about placing my case in the sun. Long story short, my new case arrived, (THANK YOU KELLY), my iPad 3 went right in, and everything is working as promised. I absolutely love it! Thank you David for a wonderful product.

Any plans for an iPad app so that one can tell that the solar features are working? By perception only, one can't tell that it's not just a case with a battery. I am NOT suggestingnthat's the case, but it would be useful to be able to see status info.
Creator Jon Cole on August 1, 2012
One of the legs just snapped off my case. I've only used the legs about a dozen times. What can I do?
Creator David Foster on July 27, 2012
Hi Arnold,
I am getting some emails through the website contact page and telephone calls about the fit on a select few cases. It seems that heating the case up in the sun or the dashboard of a car is working for most people with this issue. We are exchanging the KudoCases that will not work with this quick fix. This issue has been addressed in our next production and should no longer be a problem.
If anyone is having this issue and it does not resolve by this quick fix method on our website "FAQ" page, just contact me at: support@kudocase.com and we will exchange the case for you.

GOT IT!!!! ipad3 fits fine, smooth in...smoothish out; heavier feel, but i have been rocking a naked ipad for past month so I just need to adjust to the extra kudo heft....following charging instructions first night..."spank me" i am estatic to have this now. cool looking, name on case is cool, stitching on cover edge is nice look, inside and out..the little plastic tabs on legs ...cheap looking but functional enough..dimpled back of case is nice antiskid feature for dash board or desk...and looks good, rough enough but not too rough. well worth it...customer service was superior...NEXT GENERATION....develop a case that will let user charge directly to internal ipad battery? make it thinner & lighter; use natural materials...KUDO mates with DODO = DOKU...the first generation organic solar powered case for iPad..the next generation
Creator Arnold A Sitorus on July 26, 2012
Thanks Kelly.
I don't have problem with my Kudocase. I was just curious if other backers who have problem with fitting as mentioned in their comment have tried the method and what's the result.
Maybe you could try to reach them incase they haven't read here and not aware of the remedy.

Hi Arnold,
We have tried this remedy here and it is working for us. We are sorry about this minor inconvenience to everyone. We did not realize the temperatures that the KudoCases were being shipped in were so severe! (COLD) The rubber tip which holds the iPad in place is known as a Thermo Polycarbonate Ureathane, this material's molecule structure was changed during the severe temperature. It simply needs some heat to loosen it back up and reform it's memory. Once it's heated you can pop the iPad in there nice and easily, then over a short amount of time the memory will form to the iPad. It does not take very long to warm it here in the Florida sun. Depending on where you live it could take a little longer to warm it up to be able to pop your iPad right in.
Just let us know if you continue to have a problem with this at: support@kudocase.com

Wonder if people who have trouble in fitting have tried the FAQ suggestion and how is the result?
Creator Julie Hui on July 14, 2012
Re: tight-fitting cases, I just spotted this addition to the FAQ that suggests a remedy:
"Very easy remedy. Put the case out in the sun for about 5-10 minutes, a car dashboard works great. The rubber tip which holds the iPad in place is known as a Thermo Polycarbonate Ureathane. There are two types of this material, one is resiliant to heat, the other is resiliant to cold. We chose the former for obvious reasons. Unfortunately we recently learned that during transit on DHL (from the factory to the US) the cargo-hold can be at extremely low temperatures. This changed the molecule structure of that rubber piece. It simply needs some heat to loosen it back up and reform it's memory. Once it's heated you can pop the iPad in there nice and easily, then over a short amount of time the memory will form to the iPad."
Creator Pauahilani Cockett on July 13, 2012
Thanks, Julie. After not hearing from anyone for a while, I finally got five responses. I was able to exchange my Kudocase today. I'm very impressed with the kudocase and can't wait to receive working case.

-Kelly
Creator Julie Hui on July 11, 2012
@Laura and @Pauahilani: I also had a tight-fitting case and it turns out that mine had originally shipped with DHL. Here's a quote from an email response I got from Dave a couple weeks back:
"The small top rubber piece inside the case is made up of a material called Thermo Polycarbonate Urethane. As the name "thermo" suggests it changes it's structure in extreme temperatures. There are two types of this material, one resilient to heat and one resilient to cold. Being a solar iPad case we went with the one resilient to cold.
We just learned that DHL has a different cargo hold temperature than most cargo holds and stores the products at -71 degrees. In the essence of time we shipped some cases by DHL not aware of this and during the 17 hour flight the boxes on the outside of the crate were too cold and the structure of the rubber piece changed, thus making it too tight for the iPad to fit."
I hope this helps others with tight-fitting case issues. I initially emailed Kelly and got the response ball rolling: sales@lilypadcase.com

My iPad 2 charging port is bent :/ I just noticed it now so I'm not sure what is to blame but I can see the Kudocase causing the damage. It's not easy to take out my iPad without a bit of yanking.
I guess on the upside, the Kudocase is still working.
Creator Pauahilani Cockett on July 5, 2012
Finally received my kudocase. I charged both the case and my iPad seperately as stated. I have an iPad 2 & 3 and I could not get either of them to fit. My thumbs hurt so much trying to get either pads in. It's been a few days since I askd for a replacement but haven't received a reply yet. I don't know if anyone is still reading messages on this site as the last one was written 5 days ago. But, David or Kelly, where are you?
Creator Tärnaby Lapland on June 30, 2012
It seems I may have a working kudocase :)
From the FAQ's on the kudocase website, under " Important Information Regarding Charging and Your KudoCase' ... I followed step 1) and ' spanked ' the Kudocase first , without inserting the iPad. I have the ipad2 NOT the iPad 3 however as it says : " ***PLEASE NOTE THAT EVEN IF YOU HAVE AN iPAD 2, THE BATTERY IN YOUR KudoCase COULD ALSO BE IN NEED OF A GOOD OL’ “SPANKING” AS WELL , SO DON’T BE SHY "
I Proceeded to step 2) : " When charging with no iPad you will notice a constant GREEN light on your Kudo® Case. "
For me the green light flashed for about an hour first, then it finally stayed on constantly, but it didn't go off , even after over 10 hours charging.
So, I followed the instructions : " EVEN IF AFTER THAT AMOUNT OF TIME THE GREEN LIGHT IS STILL ILLUMINATED PROCEED DIRECTLY TO THE NEXT STEP."
I then inserted the iPad into the kudocase and have been using the iPad in the kudocase since.
Further notes. I didn't see any blue lights ( in place of green lights ) when charging the kudocase. I only witnessed these once the ipad was inserted and the cover was closed and opened. They do not stay illuminated ( as read , this is to conserve power ) .
The lights are now starting to flash red . So on to the next step ..
4) Via NORMAL iPAD use, operate until you see the RED light beginning to blink, then REPEAT the steps above. *IT IS CRITICAL TO FULLY DEPLETE THE KUDO BATTERY AND THEN CHARGE BOTH AGAIN SEPARATELY TO COMPLETE THE CYCLING PROCESS -- Congratulations, you have now “spanked” or cycled your battery! "
So far so good ;) After this final 'spanking' has been done, I should then be able to see how effectively the KudoCase really works.
Creator Tärnaby Lapland on June 28, 2012
Finally ! I received my first case. Now unpacked and plugged in ... Let's see if 'she' works ;) Watch this space ...

I was using it between trips the car. it's 1:21 AM and have been using iPad all evening. Still 2 dots and 100% showing with charging icon.
Creator Karthik Sundaram on June 20, 2012
I too am going to try the draining process as mentioned in the FAQ
Creator Karthik Sundaram on June 20, 2012
Shirley did you use the iPad during that time or just leave it in your car? If you left it in your car without ue then the reason you had 3 blue dots is because of the charge overnight, not because of the sunlight
Creator Shirley D on June 19, 2012
Did as suggested in the FAQ on the KudoCase site and charged both separately first. There's a conditioning process involved. Left the case to charge overnight and found the green charging light had stopped blinking. Found insertion of new iPad a bit difficult, but got it to click in. Started at 9 AM kept case on seat beside in car in light. 7:30pm and case at 3 blue dots and iPad @ 100%. As recommended, will use until red dot shows, Then charge up separately once more. So far this is looking good! Will comment how long it takes to get to red dot. And again after second charge. The FAQ answered many questions!
