A lof of you have probably heard of GOG but if you haven't then they're a company that specialises in releases classic games for new pcs and macs.
Just thought I'd spread the word that they're doing a Sensi special this weekend. Cannon Fodder and Sensible Soccer for just a coupla quid.
Check it out if you're interested.
This sounds like I work for them!!!
Ha ha! I don't! Just thought some of you might be interested.
Cheers everyone! Can't wait to get my copy of the book. My postcard is pride of place above my desk.
Pete

Game Paused: We sent out an 'early bird' batch to those who responded to an October update, however don't fret, as everyone else will get theirs included with the book when it lands this summer. Perfect to send to your loved ones from your summer holiday :)
Creator Matthew Kenyon on March 25
When did you send the postcards out D?
Creator Darren Wall on March 24
Gemma: Thanks for getting in touch. We will be sending out the surveys in May as we want to ensure we get the most accurate postal information for everyone. Kickstarter only allows you to do it once so we decided to wait until just before the book is ready. Do feel free to drop me a line at darren@readonlymemory.vg if you have any questions about your delivery.
Creator Gemma on March 24
Have you guys sent the survey that has too be filled out when the kickstarter was over because I havent received anything yet?
Creator DVC Ak1rA on December 6, 2012
Thanks for the card! I thought somebody died (black envelope). Nice suprise ;)
Creator Darren Wall on December 4, 2012
Philip: Good to hear! It would certainly make for a handsome bookmark!
Creator BASS2 - Philip Proud - Order of the Goat on December 3, 2012
Darren: I got my postcard this weekend! Thanks! Even the wife thought it was pretty cool. Can't decide whether to put it in an arty frame and mount on the wall or use it as a super cool bookmark?!
Creator Nick Sakellariou on October 7, 2012
With two whole minutes to spare, I got aboard! My Amiga would never forgive me, had I let this one pass by. Keep up the great work!
Creator BASS2 - Philip Proud - Order of the Goat on October 7, 2012
Darren: OK I'm in for $100. Best not mention it to the wife else in the worlds of a Megalomaniac "It's all over!". No doubt my tower will be critical, the mine will be destroyed and I'll also run out of elements. If you're reading this honey ..Love you! xxx
Creator Darren Wall on October 7, 2012
Philip: Haha! Good luck with the negotiations. We'll get Jon to personalise it in his best flowery anniversary writing if you are successful!
Creator BASS2 - Philip Proud - Order of the Goat on October 7, 2012
I've got 3 hours to convince my wife that she wants a signed copy of the book for our wedding anniversary instead of a romantic meal at a posh restaurant.
Creator tufote on October 4, 2012
Darren: Just googled it, it is indeed the same level. Sounds like we need a support group :)
Creator Darren Wall on October 4, 2012
Ken: Thanks very much! If you liked the video, do come back and visit us tomorrow. We might just have another one to close the campaign!
Creator Ken on October 4, 2012
OK, now that video was really cool and damn hilarious. Well done!
I live in North America, but have always had a soft spot for Britsoft. All the best with this endeavour.
Creator Darren Wall on October 4, 2012
Tufote: Was that mission called 'Bang, Bang, You're Dead'?! Someone I know mentioned that the other day as being the most painful level of the whole game too! You're not alone. Sounds like that one should definitely end up in the book.
Creator Pete Hurley on October 4, 2012
SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS. P
Creator pwrdwnsys on September 29, 2012
Really excited to see this project come through. I'm looking forward to giving this book the prime glass-covered place on our lounge coffee table.
I would love to see a future book focused on Mythos Games & the Gollops (especially with "UFO: Enemy Unknown" being one of the greatest games ever!)
Creator tufote on September 28, 2012
Thanks Darren. You'd think I'd remember the name of the mission but no. It was my own personal Vietnam. It was the one with the turret in the middle of an island, and grenade/bazooka-proof buildings scattered around the edge. You had to get into the turret as it was the only thing with a powerful enough weapon to destroy the buildings. But you'd get grenaded if you made it that far. I cleared it a few times but never with enough men left to make it to mission 9.
I completed Cannon Fodder 2 without too much fuss, I should add!
Looking forward to hearing about HAND, as well as everything else of course.
Creator Darren Wall on September 28, 2012
tufote: Thanks very much! I can reveal that Jon designed all the levels on graph paper so he's the source of your pain. What was the name of that level? Curious to know which one caused so much suffering!
Also, I have some character designs for Have a Nice Day but I think the motherload is yet to arrive via Sensible graphics guru Stoo Cambridge. I'm meeting him soon to thieve from his archive so I'll post up what I discover as I get it. I can share that apparently the internal name for the game was 'Office Chair Massacre'!
Creator Darren Wall on September 28, 2012
Chris: Not to worry, all images will be pin sharp. I'm a right fussy sod with things like this, so every page will be laboured over for months I assure you!
Creator tufote on September 28, 2012
Also, have you found out much about Have A Nice Day so far? As far as I'm aware, there never was even a screenshot released of that one. Would be interested to know more on it.
Creator tufote on September 28, 2012
Darren - can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to this. Great idea and congrats on getting the funding for it. If you can uncover who was the fiend who designed mission 8 phase 2 on the first Cannon Fodder I would be most grateful. I'll go and do a revenge bazooka attack on them.
Creator Chris Goddard on September 25, 2012
Really can't wait for this book! Please, please make sure the photos/screenshots etc are the highest res possible! :-)
Creator mike barnes on September 25, 2012
Finally backed, was holding off as had a fairly expensive Kickstarter month in August/September. But needed to see this baby see print. Lots of fond memories of this gaming time. Spent these years working in the industry myself and was lucky?? to spend some of it in the company of Mr Perry and his Bandana (he also had a leather jacket with his face on the reverse..shudder).
Creator Playaveli on September 25, 2012

I really want the EP version of this but can't afford it at this time :( any chance of adding a digital copies of the EP to a lower pledge level?

Creator Scott Hughes on September 24, 2012
Congrats guys, am really excited by this, can't wait to read it :)
Creator BASS2 - Philip Proud - Order of the Goat on September 23, 2012
Less than $1k to go! Better make some space on my coffee table!
Creator Masakari on September 22, 2012
Proud backer of this! I have no idea why someone doesn't resurrect SWOS today. It could be a F2P title, or a normal one without microtransactions, updated with stuff like social integration, player training and evolution, more manager aspects, real venues, etc.
I've actually invested time in this, doing mockups and a short design / business doc and tried getting someone's attention (and Jon's), but unfortunately I've been unsuccessful.
14 days to go and just a short $1200!
Creator Playaveli on September 20, 2012
@ Matthew: Search for "wizball longplay" on youtube! ;-)
Creator Matthew Abraham on September 20, 2012
Any chance of releasing/allowing people to acquire copies of their old favorite games aswell? I would love to play some of them again, but finding them is almost impossible!
And has anyone got a walkthrough of WizBall :)
Creator Rick Lindeman on September 19, 2012
nearly there
Creator Darren Wall on September 18, 2012
Philip: Actually, you're not alone, my friend also does a good 'Ergonomically Terrific' in suitably Pyhtonesque tones! Thanks for the kind words. I'm seeing Jon next week so I'll crack the whip and get him back in the game-making saddle. Its been a while so he owes us a few belters surely!
Creator BASS2 - Philip Proud - Order of the Goat on September 16, 2012
Sensible's games were such a huge part of my childhood in the 90s. Cannon Fodder, Mega-lo-Mania, SWOS... hours and hours of pure joy. I can't think of many games that have led to me being able to don my best northern accent and say to any number of my closest friends "we're running out of elements" to have them reply "ergonomically terrific" or some other wonderfully quotable chunk of dialogue. such an exchange is still a weekly event!
Darren, my thanks to you for undertaking this project. Please also pass my thanks to Jon and the guys for some great games and better memories! Also tell his to pull his finger out, get the band back together and give us some new classics!
Creator Darren Wall on September 16, 2012
Playaveli: I meant hero. Not heo. I would never call you a heo.
Creator Darren Wall on September 16, 2012
Hugh: We can certainly do that for you. All you need to do is pledge for twice the regular book amount (for instance that would be $76.00 if you are in the UK) and we'll be in touch to arrange delivery of each book. Then, the gloating can commence!
Creator Darren Wall on September 16, 2012
Playaveli: Crikey! You sir, are a Goalscoringsuperstarheo. But then you already know that. Thank you so much!
Creator Hugh Lawson on September 16, 2012
Really looking forward to this! Is there any chance of a new tier or add-on to get 2 copies of the book? I know this would be a great gift for my brother (even though it will remind him he always used to whip me at sensi soccer....)
Creator Playaveli on September 16, 2012

Amaziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing !!!!! I'm a huge fan of Sensible world of soccer and this make my day.
Please release SWOS on steam :)
Creator Tristan Hawkins on September 12, 2012
Nice to have you with us Playaveli. Remember your name from the threads about the SWOS XBLA and Windows (cough cough) remakes.
Creator Playaveli on September 12, 2012
I'm in with 185 $... why? Search for my username on wikipedia! ;)
Really hope the project will happen.
Creator Darren Wall on September 12, 2012
Scott: Welcome aboard! I doubt you'll be disappointed with what we'll provide for the $38 tier, the book should be pretty special. I take your point though and we'll consider what we could offer between $38 and $100.
Creator Scott Hughes on September 12, 2012
Hi Darren
I'm in for the $38 reward. Would be happy to spend more but the next tier is $100 - just too much of a jump. You might want to consider some rewards between the $38 and $100 tiers.
Best of luck
Scott
Creator Tim Catley - Order of the Goat on September 12, 2012
Ok you got me, I'm in Was a big amiga kid when growing up and of course had numerous Sensible titles. Definitley gave Sensi soccer, Megalomania and Cannon fodder a good bashing!
Wish you all the sucess with this project and hopefully more to come on the history of the British Software houses as already mentioned, Psygnosis, Bitmap Brothers, Team 17, Millenium, Bullfrog, DMA Design ;) etc.
Creator Sentinel on September 11, 2012
The appetizer screenshots look incredible and from what I've seen on your website we can expect something really beautiful.
I also urge you to make a sequel for Psygnosis; their games weren't always the best from a gameplay point of view but the graphics (incl. the Roger Dean) were always top-notch. And then we had Rainbird, Bullfrog, Cinemaware, ... whew, a lot of work ahead :-)
Creator James Lamerton on September 10, 2012
Great idea, I was a big fan of Sensible Soccer (european cup edition and SWOS) on the Atari ST. Cannon Fodder was excellent as was Megalomania. Can't wait for my copy, good luck!
Creator Darren Wall on September 9, 2012
Craig: Thanks. I hope there will be many more!
