What is the Art Over Wheels Project?
It is a traveling art studio, creative classroom, and unique exhibition space housed inside of a repurposed and custom renovated box-truck! The project aims to bring FREE workshops, public art projects, and interactive exhibitions to the community, hitting the streets in September 2012. I, Dara Brown, am a multi-disciplinary artist who currently provide FREE art activities, workshops, and creative community projects to the public. The "art-mobile" will enable an expansion of efforts and provide greater access and engagement opportunities.
What will I do?
I will teach workshops in everything from understanding materials to creating large mixed media works. I am creating dynamic lesson plans that will allow creative expression, while instilling basic principles and conceptual representation. We will explore tools, techniques, create individual small works and studies. We will also create group pieces for installation, exhibition, public interaction, or performance. Many of the works will be social commentaries and will be eco-conscious by focusing on repurposing used/green materials. Additionally, I will photograph the participants and document the art in process, completed works, as well as the entire Art Over Wheels Project experience. I will create a postcard set and a book which serve as a project journal and community creative diary. My goal is to continue to engage the public in the arts and have the Art Over Wheels Project invigorate and encourage others to think creatively every day!

Who can participate?
Everyone pretty please! *yippee* I will continue to provide activities for children and with the launch of the project I will also offer FREE workshops for families, and adults. I plan to engage the entire community and provide hands-on art access to the public and opportunity for every member of the family to get in on the art fun!
Why should you contribute?
I make art every single day! As a child I knew early on that I would spend my life making creative works, and now as a working artist I strive to inspire others to dream and follow their passions. I've spent much of my professional career in the non-profit sector as an art instructor and creative program director. I know what it takes to engage and ignite the interests and imaginations of others. I offer not only my expertise but also strive to inspire and actively engaged the community. I currently provide FREE hands-on activities and access to the arts for elementary school age children and their families. I have taken every necessary step to make the Art Over Wheels Project real and I need your help to take the final crucial steps. The money raised with Kickstarter will enable me to create the mobile art studio, allowing an expansion of my workshop offerings/audience, and realization of my goal to make art accessible, approachable, and available the community.
What happens if I raise more than my goal?
If slightly over the $11,100 goal is raised then the additional funds will go to expanding the range of art materials, adding more specialized equipment to the traveling art studio, and to increasing the number of public art projects. If significantly more than the goal is raised, it will go towards funding future Art Over Wheels Project installments such as a multiple city tour and an international creative culture exchange workshop in Panama.

Thank you so much for the support!
