About this project
Bedrock Sandals started out of our need for high performance minimalist footwear on long runs and hikes. Running and walking with minimalist footwear enables feet to function naturally. Like so many others, we found that our feet grew stronger and healthier the more we walked and ran in shoes with no support whatsoever.
Our goal for Bedrock Sandals was to create affordable minimalist sandals that fit comfortably and perform well on both trails and sidewalks.
Over the past year we have designed, developed, and tested our sandals across hundreds of miles of terrain and now want to start sharing them. We hope to start a sandal company that focuses on creating USA made sandals that let feet work naturally.
We have established connections with local materials suppliers, bloggers in the sandal industry, and select distributors. Now all we need is money to buy the right tools and materials so we can start producing Bedrock Sandals in our Northern California work shop. Here is were you come in. If you like the design and functionality of Bedrock Sandals - and want them on your feet - pledge $35 and we'll send you a pair (25% off retail). Pledge $45 and you get a pair along with two sets of interchangeable color straps! Functionality
Designed after Ancient huarache sandals with a modern twist. Bedrock Sandals use a functional buckle to allow for easy micro adjustments to fit, soft webbing straps, and high-tech Vibram soles.
Buckle System
We designed Bedrocks Sandals to use a buckle in a unique way that enables distinct control over both thong and ankle strap tightness. This control ensures a custom and comfortable fit.
Vibram Sole
6mm in thickness with circular nubs for increased traction. Built from foot forming neoprene rubber composite. They begin to form to the shape of your feet after a day of wear.
Colors
Bedrock Sandals come in 13 different strap colors and we'll be adding more in the near future!

Sizing
We offer Bedrock Sandals in custom sizes depending on the measured length of your foot. Once our Kickstarter ends we'll ask you to measure the length of each foot in centimeters. The better your measurements the better your sandals will fit. If you consider your feet or toes strangely shaped in any way (me included here!) then we strongly recommend the custom fit option.
Custom Fit
The fit of any running/hiking sandal is important. Thus we will build you a pair customized to your exact foot dimensions for no added cost! Just trace outlines of both feet (toes included) and snail mail us the cut outs to the address below.

The Vibram soles conform to your feet and will raise the rubber up so the strapping will not actually touch the ground. We have tested the straps for months with no compromising signs of wear.

If our project is successful by July 6th you will complete a survey filling out information about sandal size and color.

No. The strapping provides a buffer between the buckle and skin. None of our testers have experienced chafing.

We both transplanted to the west coast after growing up and studying back east. Dan and Nick both dig rocks, running, and sandals. Dan brings experience from working in both hardware and software companies. Nick adds a keen design eye and fast marathon legs to the team.
