About this project
If you love supporting live music, if you are aware of the talent that has and continues to emerge out of the DC music scene, if you've attended any of the BandHouse Gigs tribute shows, please invest and become a backer to help BandHouse Gigs release our next tribute highlights CD.
Since 2004, BandHouse Gigs has been a labor of love by the four founders, and the local area musicians in our DC community. All involved musicians give freely of their time to rehearse and perform the music of some of the world's most cherished artists. To date our tributes have included the work of: Nils Lofgren, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Nick Lowe, Allen Toussaint, Warren Zevon and Neil Finn. These shows have exposed new generations to the music of these fine artists and their amazing catalog of work.
Last August, in celebration of the 40th Anniversary to Woodstock, over sixty musicians performed an inspired tribute celebrating the music performed at the historic festival (culminating in the finale of "With a Little Help From My Friends," pictured above) at Strathmore Music Center. We are asking those who have enjoyed and supported our shows to help us raise money to produce our next tribute CD, The British Invasion music from 1964-1966. By becoming a backer, you not only get a copy of our British Invasion CD, you support the hundreds of musicians who have been on our collective shows. Our CDs provide widespread exposure for new musicians on the local scene by introducing them to the world playing the tunes you know and love.
Some of the musicians who have performed on our shows include Stueart Smith (The Eagles), John Jennings (Mary Chapin Carpenter), Jon Carroll (Mary Chapin, Peter Wolf), Bill Dannoff (Starland Vocal Band), Skunk Baxter (Doobie Brothers), and national acts like Eddie From Ohio. We are so proud of the work that we do and have thus far released a DVD of the first tribute to local hero, Nils Lofgren, and CDs of our Joni Mitchell Tribute at Strathmore in Bethesda, MD and Allen Toussaint Tribute at The Barns at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA. We are just finishing the album from last years Woodstock tribute and a DVD of our tribute to Joni Mitchell.
Thank you for your support!
