About this project
What is kickstarter?
it's a new way of gathering funds for projects - where fans, friends and family can help those who really need it. In this instance, ME! to create and send out a CD.
You promise to make a donation - no matter what the size, it all helps - and you don't get charged until the "target" is reached. AND there are some pretty cool rewards too.
I'm hoping to get $3000, but wouldn't hate it if I got more :-P and I'll be recording, printing, and mailing a whole bunch of CDs - to you, and to radio stations (of course) so that you can say "I knew Dann before he was famous!"
I know that you may know me as a dad, or a teacher, or the NY Mets/FC Barcelona/Scarf fan or your son/brother/nephew/uncle or just that guy with the annoying dog down the block, but I wanted you to also know that I love writing music. I love playing music. I love making music.
The only problem between making that music and getting it to you in good condition is the recording.
Which is where you come in.
I'd like to ask for some assistance in that recording part of the deal. I've written some of the best songs I have ever written and I have been talking with people and places to start scheduling the work. Because, believe it or not, recording can sometimes be a lot of work (Parking Lot Kings on the "Presents" EP, a 3 minute song, took 13 hours to record). And any donations you make will be used for studio time, hiring musicians, getting a producer, getting CDs designed and made and getting them to you. And there are some pretty cool "rewards" (other than that warm fuzzy feeling you get for helping me out).

I hate this question cause I play a whole bunch. I've been told that I sound like old-school Bruce Springsteen, and I've also been told that I have a Rolling-Stones vibe, but I've also been told sound like Dave Matthews. This is not helpful, I know. :-P but I think I can place myself in that very specific Americana/Rock category.

There are a few places in Cambridge and Brighton, MA I am talking to in order to get the CD recorded.

I've always thought that 4 or 5 are on an EP and 9 or 10 are on a CD, so I'm aiming for 10 or 11.

The Wake Up Spot. Ok, I know 76 is not exactly divisible by 6 (but it IS divisible by 1, 2, 4, 19, 38 and 76 - I'm such a geek) but it's the year I was born. So I figure it's a cool number. A House Concert. Yep. A show at your house (if you live more than 3 or so hours from Boston I'll play via Skype or Ustream or we can work out an additional fee) for you and your guests to rock out to. I'll even let you pick the songs (I HAVE done full sets of The Beatles, U2, Bon Jovi, Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen and others if you need some cover song suggestions). This on top of the already awesome liner note mention, the signed CD, signed poster or pic, t shirt and handwritten thank you.
