For the past 15 years, I have been taking photographs in Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa, documenting the human spirit. My photographs and essays have explored Afghanistan’s refugees, the children of Cambodia’s dumps and the orphans of Bihar, India among many other subjects. Most recently I have been photographing the Tribes of the Omo River in Southern Ethiopia who will be affected by the Gibe III dam, for my second book "Tribes of the Omo River."
All of the photographs from this work were donated to Survival International in order to fight for the water rights of the tribes. My photographs have been published in newspapers and magazines worldwide including the Herald Tribune, The Guardian and The Independent.
Photography is my passion and my vehicle for understanding, seeing and communicating the world to others.
My first book "The Waking Dream" was a collection of essays and photographs from India, Tibet, Afghanistan and Cambodia.
When I am not taking pictures I am living with my beautiful wife Caramiya and two kids Tristan and Evie in Maui, where I run my store and gallery Indigo Paia.
