Kickstarter

I had meant to post an update a *little* earlier but got swept away by the crazy non-stop schedule ever since I've arrived at the Isle of Man two Fridays ago. We are now in the middle of the TT race week and needless to say, being here and seeing firsthand what these riders are capable has been nothing short of incredible. I won't get too much into detail here as I can probably talk about it forever, but if you are curious to hear more please feel free to ask.

Last but not least, big thanks again to everyone for helping me get here. As any race fan who has been to the Isle of Man TT can testify, it is an unforgettable and life-changing experience and I would not be here without your contribution. I am already trying to figure out how to get myself out here again next year!

The project's funding was reached earlier this morning with almost 40 hours to spare. Thanks for all the generous pledges and the countless links shared on Facebook, Twitter, and who knows where else in the last few weeks to make this happen!

First off, thanks to each and everyone who has made a pledge so far (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/daniello/guy-martin-and-the-isle-of-man-tt/backers). The generosity and support has been nothing short of astounding. Included on the list are a few gracious anonymous backers who I hope will reveal their identities to me at some point so I can say a proper thank you. 

Long story short, real life has somewhat blunted my sense of time going by, hence partially the reason why I'm posting up the first update just days before the project's deadline. Thanks to Jim Race of MotoPod (http://www.motopodcast.com/) for giving me a nudge to finally post this update, as well as dropping multiple plugs on Facebook and Twitter (some friendlier than others) to his legions of fans.

Also, the project got a big mention on esteemed motorcycle news site Asphalt & Rubber a couple weeks back! (http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/racing/dan-lo-kickstarter-isle-of-man-tt/). Big thanks to Jensen Beeler for the post, altho I'm sure he also had fun embarrassing me in the process. The accuracy of his kind words is very much open to debate.

Last but not least, this project wouldn't have existed without a certain conversation taking place with my buddy and MotoGP photographer Scott Jones (http://www.photo.gp/). I went from joking with him about Kickstarting my way to the TT to submitting the project application in the span of about 10 minutes. Or something like that. 

Now just a few days away from the deadline, while still maybe a bit of a stretch it's actually within the realm of possibility that this will happen. I'm certainly not asking anyone to spam on my behalf, but passing on the project link to Facebook friends, Twitter followers, or good old fashioned word of mouth can help make the difference between reaching the target or not.
