Watercolor painting for the ultimate pledge tier!
Hey! This weekend I felt encouraged to create a special item for an additional $1000 pledge tier.
I was pondering over the question what this could be and after discarding all sorts of ideas for life events (most of you live on the other side of the planet and it would just be too cumbersome for anyone to visit me here in Warendorf) I decided that the best reward would be a very rare item. I mean VERY rare. And therefore I did something that I didn't do for a very long time: I mounted a piece of watercolor paper, picked up my ancient watercolor box, washed the dust out of my brushes and painted an ACTUAL painting.
I have quite some experience with traditional media. I painted a lot with watercolor, acrylics and airbrush. But this was over 10 years ago and after a decade of Photoshop painting it really was daunting to load up a real brush with real paint and with every single stroke to risk ruining the whole piece. I really felt nervous at the beginning but after the first hesitant strokes it actually started to make fun! I really enjoyed creating this artwork.
First my plan was to limit the $1000 pledge tier to a single backer. But I guess there won't be too many backers for this tier anyway (actually I'd be happy to find ONE) and I wouldn't mind to create a couple of these. However, apart from that I'm not likely to paint much more of these in the near future because it takes hours to create them and time is scarce. Maybe I'll create another batch when I'm retired. :)

One week to go!
Now that the anxiety about reaching the funding goal is finally gone, I'm really enjoying this and I'am looking forward to the final result of this campaign. I actually thought about some extra incentives for people who might be willing to pledge a $1000 but I also got really into the preliminary version of chapter 2 and those two things are competing for my time against each other right now. I guess, progress on the second chapter serves more people than a $1000 pledge reward. Maybe I'm able to create something over the weekend but please don't hold your breaths on it.
I'm so pumped about the app! I received news from the developer that now a programmer is scheduled for April to take care of the project. I just can't wait to put this baby together. Just this morning I got some great ideas for the user interface. But again, I also have to work on the second chapter so it will take me some time to provide all the visual material for the app. That's all so exciting! Of course I will keep you updated on the progress.
Oh yeah, and I have warned my print supplier that April will be a busy month for him. I'm going to order hundreds of prints! I'm so looking fowards to the guy's face in the post office. :)
Oh, and another thing! I mentioned it on my blog today, too. Most of the prints that you will receive as a reward for your pledges will still be available in the wormworldsaga.com print store once the kickstarter campaign is over (of course except for the blue Wormseal stamp - that one is strictly exclusive). But the small print of "Treehouses & Skycastles" that you'll receive for a $25 pledge, the $250 pledge and for the "combined" tiers (60$, 150$) will never be available again. I'm planning to use it as a title image in the app and I think that it really is a nice touch that this print will exist only in a very limited number (which I will announce at the end of the campaign) and that people who own it can someday look at it and say "yeah, that's from when I helped to kickstart the Wormworld Saga App". I really wonder what collectors will pay for this print in ten years. :)
