Update #11: The Times liked us!!
Kickstarter Backers, we have some exciting news coming out today in the New York Times weekend section. Neil Genzlinger, who wrote a round up of Holiday-themed shows said "sometimes you get lucky" and called us a "delightful surprise" with "terrific performances" from the cast.
This has given the cast an enormous boost, to have the Times drop in, and I wanted to share it with you.
I've loved seeing some of you at the show (when I'm not mumbling in the back of the theater) and look forward to seeing others. It's really happening.
The full Times piece is at:

Earlier in the week we also received a great review from nytheatre.com.
http://www.nytheatre.com/nytheatre/showpage.php...
Truth be told, we got one mediocre review from Backstage, but what do they know--they're just backstage and don't get to the front of the stage much, right?
See many of you soon and don't get caught in the funny papers! D
Update #10: Hurray!! We made it
Backers, a small Christmas miracle has happened, and George Bailey was not the beneficiary this time. Instead it was our hero, Sam Wainwright!
Your donations are, as we speak, being zapped into HEE-HAW's Amazon account, and will be going out immediately to the cast and crew who has been working without pay thus far, as well as to lighting equipment, sets, props, everything we need to put this show up.
To the backers who have claimed rewards, you will be receiving individual emails about how to collect. To everyone, thank you for being so generous and for showing so much faith in this brand new piece of theater. I can't wait for you to see the show.
If you don't have tickets on the way from your donation, please visit

to get yours. I can't wait to see you in December, but don't expect "White Christmas!!" xxoo Daniel

Update #9: Tickets Now on sale at Nuyorican.org
Hello HEE-HAW sponsors. Tickets are now on sale at the Nuyorican Poets Website for the run, December 4th-20th!
http://www.nuyorican.org/tickets.php...
Please note that if you're receiving tix as part of your sponsorship, your tickets will be handled separately, through La Vie productions at 646-290-7897. However, this only goes into effect if we meet our fundraising goal by this Saturday, Nov. 21st. We just passed the $5,000 mark and I think we can do it if we round up a few more sponsors this last week.
Thank you for all you've done and are doing,
Daniel (and the cast and crew of HEE-HAW)
Also, for the curious, here's a link to some of our production photos. We took these Friday out in Times Square and the Court Theater. I'm billing them as the most attractive cast off-off-broadway...

Update #8: The home stretch!
Hello wonderful sponsors, we're less than a week away from the fundraising deadline--Nov. 21st, at which point we need to have raised $6,000 or none of the funding comes through. Now I know what you're thinking, you've done your part...which you have, and how!
However, if there is that theater-loving uncle, that Wonderful Life junkie, that one person you know who gets a a sick pleasure out of donating to brand new works of theater, please don't hesitate to send along. This is crunch time!
I'm posting our new logo designed by Felicia Ricci. I think it captures the two sides of the show--a pulsing vaudeville energy of glitz and showbiz (the marquee) as well as the darkness it covers--the bombed-out theater.
This morning the cast gathered for production photos in Times' Square, which I'll soon be posting. They are really coming alive in their roles and are showing both their talent and some serious elbow grease. I'm not sure exactly what we're creating, but I do think it's different than anything else that's out there.
Please keep passing the word on, and thank you again for what you've done thus far. Without your contributions and support, this show wouldn't even be in this position to have this chance.
Thank you from me and from the cast and crew!
Onward! Daniel
Update #7: We've broken $4,000 and a new video
Wonderful Backers,
Your generosity has just vaulted us past the $4,000 mark. We're closing in on $6,000, the mark we must reach by November 21st in order to activate the funding and have a successful project. Though this outcome would sadly mean less in your pocket, don't let that stop you from continuing to pass on the site! I think we're going to be make it.
What's more, you'll notice that even Mary Hatch has decided to become a backer!
Says Sam, "I always knew she loved me. Somewhere, inside, in a world without Bailey...she..." and then he broke down.
Finally, I've just produced, along with Violet Bick, another video for Wainwright Plastics. Click on the picture of Mr. Wainwright himself to watch the second video installment.
Thank you thank you for your faith in this project!
Daniel

Cameo in the show!! That's right. Have you ever wanted to tell a joke on stage? Juggle? Do animal noises? Vaudeville thrives on the zany acts that happen during set changes, and this show is nothing if not vaudeville. At the appropriate moment, Sam will pull you or a loved one of your choice up on stage to do your thing! Just make sure you're not funnier than Sam, or he'll get jealous.

Connected as Daniel Levin (705 friends)
Daniel F. Levin is thrilled to be working with Wainwright Plastics on this production. Daniel's previous shows include the musicals "To Paint the Earth," (words, Richard Rogers Award, New York Musical Theatre Festival, 37 Arts '08) "Luna Park" (book, commissioned by SUNY Cortland, '08), and "Campaign," (words and music). His monologue, "A Glorious Evening," part of "5-Story Walk-Up," was just published in Applause Books' "Best American Short Plays: 2007-2008."
Bravo!!
Can't wait to see it this weekend!!
