The Project

Disposable Photo is an art project meant to bring together a community through the use of photography. The idea is simply to provide a means for the general public to take pictures anonymously, and then display them for all to see on the web. I love when technology like the accessibility of the internet can connect real people of a community with each other, and even communities with other communities.

The Plan

The concept is simple. A disposable camera is placed somewhere in a public place, whether it be at a bus stop, in the park, on the street, etc. Stuck to the back of the camera is a sticker briefly explaining what and why the camera is there, and encouraging anyone who finds it to take a picture and leave it for others to do the same.

Once the camera is filled, it's developed. The pictures are then uploaded to the site for everyone to look at. This provides a way for those who took a picture with the camera to see what others took pictures of, as well as see what kinds of pictures and places are participating in other communities.

This project will be open to all who want to start it in their community.

The Funds

If this project is successfully funded, all money will go to the development and maintenance of the website and distribution of disposable cameras. This will not be used to make a profit, and I don't intend to ever make a profit with this project.
