Dance Class tells the story of a truly inspired group of women, who have captivated us with their talent, spirit and determination. They are dancers over 50, unbound by barriers of age, compelled to dance what is in their Soul.

They leave their day job as mom, lawyer, air traffic controller, website designer, inventor, philanthropist and come together as a community on the dance floor.  They support each other, laughing, crying and shaking their booty.  These women can dance!

In the film, we follow the dance company through months of rehearsal, preparing for their next big show, BOOM.  Performing in front of hundreds of people, at least six shows, is really the ultimate challenge and what they work towards tirelessly.  At the same time, we take a peek into the lives of a handful of the dancers, who share their fears, their triumphs and their joy.  We see how they find not only solace on the dance floor, but also empowerment.  Through their stories we, as filmmakers, are able to reveal the beauty, the elegance and the wisdom of maturity.   Through their performance and their spirit, we shatter the stigma of "over the hill".... 

Dance Class will inspire people to re-awaken an old love, whether painting, singing, writing or dancing, regardless of age, career path, life’s challenges or social stigma.  Witness the passion of these women which inspires others to follow…

Why Dance Class?

We have been filming and photographing Nancy Cranbourne's dance company for the past 4 years.  Every time we finish a project with them, we feel inspired and rejuvenated.  Their dedication to living their passion is contagious. Last year we decided to collaborate with Nancy, their talented and wildly artistic choreographer and producer, to document the story of these women. 

For us, creating this documentary is pure joy.

Why Kickstarter?  

We have 100 hours of footage and 1000's of photographs.  We still have more filming to do - the show, backstage, cast party, and the post performance blues...  We need the funds for edit, color correct, sound correct, soundtrack and for marketing and publicity.  We are asking for the minimum at $7500 but we need $15,000 to finish this wonderful tribute in style...  By supporting the production of Dance Class, you are not only funding a fantastic film but also   sponsoring the ARTS.
