About this project
Support Dance Brigade in our 35th Anniversary Retrospective Celebration of building community through the arts. Celebrate the mother company, Wallflower Order Dance Collective and the wonderful women and men who have made up the Dance Brigade. For 35 years we have created live performances and a community center at Dance Mission Theater that speaks to the heart of progressive ideas through dance, music, theater, sign language, and Taiko drumming. This rousing tribute chronicles the artists and social movements that created and influenced the company’s work. We will perform the critically acclaimed THE GREAT LIBERATION UPON HEARING, a dance/drama based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead and other her-storical dances and present a video retrospective.
Here is where you come in. Help us raise $10,000. Having just returned from a successful engagement in NYC with our most recent work The GREAT LIBERATION UPON HEARING, we have been struck hard by the failure of all costumes for this work to return on Greyhound Package Express. We are devastated to lose this important part of our history. Many of these costumes have been in the organization for years. This is a huge financial loss and enormously time consuming to replace. Do you remember the first Sugar Plum Fairy costume? Gone. All the black leather Kimonos? Gone. The original Navajo velvet skirt? Gone. High heels, fringe, jacket, tattoo shirts gone, gone, gone, into the bowels of Greyhound bus stations. We are asking your support to rebuild the costumes and support our anniversary season. The performance is November 18 – 20 at the Novellus Theater at Yerba Buena Center for Arts, San Francisco.
The clock is ticking… We need your help now!!
