Creation of a children's book for vegan children to help explain to their friends their lifestyle choice.

What is this book about?
Inspired by my wife, and on the heals of my first children's book, The Tale of Eartha the Sea Turtle, I have written a story about a young boy named Steven who is a vegan. During a field trip to a farm sanctuary, Steven's classmates begin to tease him about "eating vegetables". He proceeds to explain to his classmates that animals are his friends, not food.

The story was developed around an article I read that indicated  most children did not associate the food they eat with the animals the food derives from. Through colorful imagery Steven introduces his friends to the different animals on the farm. Steven also answers his classmates questions as well, such as "How can I grow big and strong if I don't eat meat." Steven explains that there are many animals that are big and strong that don't eat meat.

The book does not "preach" or take a radical approach to veganism or vegetarianism. It focuses upon the message than animals are friends not food, and promotes healthy eating. It also helps children being raised vegan learn way to deal with being teased.

How will the funds be used?
The funds will be used to finish getting the pages illustrated and to work toward a marketing campaign which will include a web site and recipe cards.

The project has most of the pages completed and illustrated. Still to be done is marketing, recipe cards, and completion of the web site.

Who's on the team?
The book is illustrated by my long time friend Ron Robrahn who has done work for Disney, Warner Brothers, Ron Jon Surf Shops, Tervis Tumblers, and more. It's our first collaborated project, and hopefully not the last.

Sample Pages
I will be posting sample pages on the updates area. You'll get to see much of the illustrated work.

BONUS :
Anyone pledging 35.00 or more will also have the option of receiving a copy of my first book The Tale of Eartha the Sea Turtle, signed by me.
