Got my Type A and PHX pens on the same day ... Both great pens .... the Type A arrived 10 months to the day after I ordered it ... It was a long wait but ok because the whole concept of Kickstarter is to assist people develop a product. We should all be happy that we contributed to the completion of a pen that no else will have .... Certainly not in Buderim, Queensland, Australia

Got mine. Love it. Sorry that so many people are disappointed for so many reasons. Wish my life adhered to my plans & expectations as well as theirs must (otherwise). :-D

Here's what I want next year (or so): tip fittings and screws to allow the use of a G2 (and whatever other refills/cartridges are popular) without a shim and with the beautiful fit the Hi-Tec-C gets.

Let me know when they're on sale! In the meantime: Thanks for the incredible pen and the amazing insight into the design/production process.

After checking the pen ship app. it is pretty frustrating to be so far out after waiting for so long. I read great things about the pen, but at this rate it will take several months to get one.

My pen was shiped on 04/30/12 to Germany. Status of USPS Tracking is still Chicago, Sort Facility of 05/01/12...

My PROBLEM though: I am moving at the end of may. So still a week to go but I am affraid it got stuck at costoms.
Is there any german Backer knowing how long it take approximately (@Matthias Kraus, @Johannes ... )

Or maybe somebody knows if it is possible to change shipping address of parcels under way?

      Thanks in advance

@William Jennings: I'm not sure where you live, but you might consider taking it to a gunsmith. The gunsmith at a local shop where I live offers drilling and tapping services for gun barrels to be able to mount scopes and rails so I'm sure they could drill and tap the pen case for you. Then you could just get yourself a cheap pocket knife and pull the clip off of it. You'd have to get the right screws for it, but most places that do machining like that can probably thread it to a standard size.

      Just a thought.

Got mine! Worth wait. Couldn't be happier...except perhaps if two small screw holes could be tapped into one flat edge to accept the sort of clips often used with some heavier metal pens and or pocket knives...to help me clip it in place in my bag or even pocket...it's really best at home on my work place desk and not a transportable pocket pen.

The day has finally arrived!!! Just arrived today and I'm blown away, I had high expectations of the quality and the longer the wait the higher the anticipation got... But F me this is sharp!!

The quality and precision of machining is some of the best metalworking I've seen, finish is amazing and that little "pop" is just great ;) so worth te weight, will definately order another to keen pristine and never use, gorgeous work.

Just need to order a new refil now as this one refuses to work... Grrr. Thanks again for all the hard work and dedication to detail, it really shows in the finished product!!!

Can't wait to see what te next CW&T venture is!

@Mister Bojangles: I was just about to post the same thing! I think it's hilarious that the PHX Pen ended WAYYYYY after the Pen Type-A and they're shipping already. The "Pen Tracking App" for Pen Type-A has been stuck on 1540 for me for weeks now.

They did say the pen would make a great Christmas gift. I'm guessing that's when I'll get it so they were just about right.

Should be interesting to compare the two though. Definitely share your thoughts. I'll do the same.

an "arma"...right! an ARM and a leg!

    17. Pingu1.thumb
      Matthias Kraus on May 16

@John Luker: jetpens.com asks an arma and a leg to ship to Germany so I found an equivalent here: pilotpen-shop.de.
I looked at the different refills and ordered a variety and ended up with that solution.
But that is just my personal taste. Anybody could try different jetpens-refills and search for "the one" for them.
I used a strip of polytube and a pair of scissors to make the spacer, in case anybody else wants to go that way...

@ianfelts: As Mark said, waiting 9 months sucks. I know, because I've been waiting, too. Don't let this discourage you from Kickstarter, though. I've since backed another pen project that uses the same refills as the Pen Type A. The project started after Pen Type A and ended after Pen Type A. My pen from them will ship at the end of this month. Which is just a month or so after the end of the project. The Pen Type A experience is uncommon in my experience with other Kickstarter projects that I've backed.

I'm guessing it has a lot to do with poor QC in Chinese manufacturing and the fact that they couldn't keep an eye on it because the pens were being manufactured there. If this were my project, I'd have had a US manufacturer produce the pens, even at a slightly higher cost. Something this precise should be monitored and you can't monitor something that is 8,000 miles away.

Also, every time a prototype or revision was sent to them, it would take 2 weeks to arrive. They would review it and wait 2 or 3 weeks for the next revision. Those weeks of shipping and waiting added months to the project. Had they produced it here in the US, they could have kept an eye on it and even been present during the manufacturing process to check on quality control.

I'll be glad to get my pen, but I'm no longer excited for it. At this point, I'll just be glad to have something in my hand that I paid for. The delays are inexcusable at this point.

Like Mark, I'll be more cautious about what projects I back in the future. I'll definitely only back projects that I feel are worthy of my time and attention. I love pens and when I saw this project, I jumped on it without hesitation. In hindsight, I should have spent my money elsewhere in the stationery world.

      Mark Nowotarski on May 13

@ianfelts Waiting 9 months is certainly frustrating. I backed a number Kickstarter design projects last summer in my initial enthusiasm. Many were delivered late and with poor quality. For what it's worth, these might be a bit late, but the quality is excellent.

In terms of other Kickstarter projects, I now limit myself to projects that I really care about and will be an active participant in after the product is delivered.

I've had my pen for about a week now, and I was blown away by the quality. It's so much fun to play/write with! Unfortunately, I think I played with it a bit too much and caused the ink cartridge to break from the pressure differentials. It's okay though; I ordered a couple replacement cartridges from jetpens.com and I should be set from now on. Just a warning: don't overuse the barrel/case!

I received my pens last week. As far as I can tell, their quality is absolutely flawless !

Starting the flow of ink was difficult for one of the pens though. Little trick : a couple of minutes in soapy water should be enough to dissolve any dried ink stuck in the refill.

Oh and also, the webapp allowed me to know that my pens have been sent but I did not receive any shipping confirmation from the fulfillment company.

@rahsaan When you put the pen in the holder, does it fall in slowly? If so, then it should pop when you pull out quickly enough. Mine takes about 3 seconds to fall.

    36. Mark casual.thumb
      Mark Nowotarski on May 6

      @David Pak.
I had a similar problem. I unscrewed the back screw, took the ink cartridge out. Scribbled a bit. Put it back in and now it writes fine. I seem to recall that one of the design challenges was to provide an air path to let air into the back of the ink cartridge so that ink can flow out the front. That may have something to do with it.
