Theatrical documentary CHARLIE VICTOR ROMEO brought to the screen with cutting-edge stereoscopic 3D technology.
CHARLIE
VICTOR ROMEO (CVR) is a live performance documentary derived
entirely from the "Black Box" transcripts of six major real-life airline
emergencies. Allowing the audience into the tension-filled cockpits of
actual flights in distress, CVR is a fascinating portrait of the
psychology of crisis and a testament to the ability to live to the last
second. What is going on behind that door in the front of the
airplane? Who are these people we trust our lives to? What do they
really do when things go horribly wrong?
Over
the past 12 years there have been numerous discussions and
investigations into how CVR might be brought to a larger audience
through another medium. In most cases the conclusion has been that
although other artists want to utilize our "brand" they have no interest
in preserving the artistic vision that makes it the dynamic
presentation that it is. The power of our production is the intimate
communication of the intensity and emotion of these emergencies,
communicated between our cast and the audience. That's the
energy of live performance, of theater. How do we take that closeness,
that connection, and carry it over to the cinema?
When
we saw our technology partners’ demonstration of their stereoscopic 3D
camera technology, designed specifically for the recording of
live performance, we were amazed and completely hooked. To have an
opportunity to place an audience in the best seat in the
theater serves one of the requirements we
needed to make the Charlie Victor Romeo Film.
We
have been granted a residency at 3LD Arts & Technology Center
(3ldnyc.org,) and have scheduled a series of live performances in
August, as well as an extended theatrical run in October. We will now be
able to bring this groundbreaking and powerful international
phenomenon to the big screen allowing moviegoers the same thrilling,
devastating and uplifting experience live theater audiences have
experienced for years. A performance documentary film intended to bring CVR to
its widest audience yet will document an anniversary production of CVR in New York City.
Now
that we have the space, we need to find funding to help pay the cast and crew of CVR. We feel incredibly lucky that we have found a
funding partner that will match what we are able to raise here on
Kickstarter to produce the 3D version of our film.
That’s AMAZING. Dollar for dollar the impact is twice as great.
Your
contribution and it’s match will help us make sure that we can
make the film and pay everyone working on it. We want to make sure we can do this before
we set off on this journey.
CHARLIE
VICTOR ROMEO has always been a DIY effort, and the only way that
the purity of its artistic vision is preserved is to keep it that way.
We
want to capture our work in a way that makes us proud of the effort;
the highest quality possible. With your help, we will accomplish this and bring audiences an unforgettable film experience.

Stereoscopic 3D, also known as "True 3D", is the stunning illusion of giving an individual the perception of depth in using what would commonly be seen as traditional two-dimensional, or "flat", visual media.
Imagine how a video camera works, in that it captures a visual signal and outputs it to a monitor, such as your television screen. Now, imagine two video cameras that are very close together, the same distance apart from one another as the distance between the eyes on your face. Instead of displaying a single frame or sequence of frames from a single visual output to a person like a camera would normally do, two sequences of frames are captured from the combined cameras, one signal for each your left and right eye, and in sending these visual signals to each respected eye, Stereoscopic 3D, the illusion of depth, is achieved.
