Chris Van Patten is a website designer, theatre artist, and film director. He was born and raised in Central New York, just east of Utica.
While studying for a B.F.A. in Theatre Design and Technology at the University at Buffalo, Chris designed scenery, lighting, and sound for numerous productions including RENT (Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region II Finalist), Our Town, Oleanna (Finalist, National Barbizon Award for Theatrical Design), and UB's Zodiaque Dance Company. His projection design for RENT was featured in the 2011 Prague Quadrennial International Competitive Exhibition of Scenography.
Additionally, Chris directs for the stage and camera. He co-conceived Quarter-Life Crisis, a concert featuring the work of young musical theatre composers in New York. Most recently, he directed and designed Gary Sunshine's Al Takes a Bride for the UB Student Theatre Guild. He is slated to direct two projects in the fall: a narrative short film and an evening of one-acts by Lanford Wilson.
