What is the M-Plate™?
The M-Plate is a camera tripod plate system with universal mounting compatibility, integrated Manfrotto RC2 / Arca-Swiss connections, and modular attachment points.
Note: The M-Plate shown in the video is a prototype unit and does not reflect the production version which will have a better form factor, fit and finish. Design considerations are being made to make it more compact.
- World's first tripod plate to integrate both Manfrotto RC2 and Arca-Swiss mounts. Also compatible with other tripod plate systems.
- Quick-attach to any tripod while using your favorite camera strap systems such as our own C-Loop. Also compatible with BlackRapid, SunSniper, Spider Holster, Cotton Carrier and others.
- Hand Grip Friendly. Adds hand grip function to cameras that lack the mounting point.
- The built-in M-Link Port™ will connect with future photo and video attachments, including flash brackets and video rigs that are currently in development.
The M-Plate securely fastens to the base of the camera using a threaded hex head bolt, while a protective neoprene base layer prevents the M-Plate from moving once in position. A hex key will be included to attach your M-Plate.
When will I receive my M-Plate?
The Kickstarter project ends on our chief designer's birthday: December 8th, 2011. At that time we will gather shipping information from backers and process pre-orders as quickly as possible.
Why the funding?
The $15,000.00 funding goal is to help offset the time spent on research and development. The funding will also help produce the initial batch of M-Plates which will be made here in the USA.
Who designed the M-Plate?
The brainchild behind the design of the M-Plate is our chief industrial designer, Ben Wong, who has also designed the revolutionary C-Loop Strap Mount and ergonomic Split Strap Technology.

The M-Plate will be made of Aerospace grade 6061 Aluminum. Which means it is a stiff, durable, and lightweight platform.

The M-Plate is still in prototype phase so we are unable to provide a final weight or dimension. As stated in the description it will be more compact and we are working to make it fit better underneath the camera with less overhang.

While the M-Plate has built-in attachment points for other non-standard tripod mounts, here are two guides to show you examples of Arca-Swiss and Manfrotto RC2 tripod heads both of which are compatible with the M-Plate. There are other heads and systems that the M-Plate may work with but we have not tested them yet.

Absolutely! We believe in giving photographers options and therefor the M-Plate is designed in such a fashion that it can be used solely by itself as a tripod plate or a hand grip mount. The M-Plate also works with our C-Loop or with other systems such as BlackRapid, SunSniper, and Spider Holster.

No way! The top of the M-Plate has an embedded neoprene layer to hold tight to the bottom of your camera and protect the two pieces from touching each other. If anything it will protect your camera.
