My first show since battling Congestive Heart Failure in 2009. The show's proceeds will help keep the Arts in L.A. schools.
I wish it could be all about the art, but that's just not the world in which we live. Opening a gallery and properly producing fine art takes time and quality materials. Basically, that translates to needing money to get any project going (the reason we're all here, I believe). While I currently have the gallery space lined up and nearly all of my newest pieces ready to exhibit, I need a little help to make my show the best it can be.
In 2009, I suffered from sudden Congestive Heart Failure at the age of 25. The healing process has been quite the journey, and it has led me here. In the last three months, I was offered a solo-show in Hollywood (the first since my visit to the hospital), my own permanent gallery within Haven Hollywood, and I learned that I won't need a heart transplant.
With everything else going on, I read about a website called "Kickstarter" that was helping creative individuals to help each other. Needless to say, I was very impressed. After surviving heart failure and massive medical bills, it is very uplifting to see such support of originality and creativity. It is for this support that I come to you all now.
Here's the thing: a good art opening (like any event) costs money. I need a few remaining art supplies and frames as well as additional lighting, promotional materials and a truck to move my paintings from my studio in Riverside, CA to Hollywood. I wish I had discovered Kickstarter a month ago, but I still have a week to seek assistance.
Whether you can donate $50 or 50 cents, your contribution will make a very real and meaningful difference in my life as well as for the local Arts programs the proceeds of my show will go on to support. In recognition of your unwavering generosity, I have several original works of art available to those most gracious patrons. If you're like most of us and don't have an extra $1000 burning a hole in your pocket, I've thought of something special to send you too with equal appreciation.
