About this project
Update: We will be throwing in an additional copy of the first issue of the magazine (signed by selected authors and the editor) for anyone who pledges more than $35. Anyone pledging more than $100 will receive a Dragibus t-shirt along with their other rewards.
Dragibus is to be a quarterly print publication on the botany, cultivation, history, and usage of medicinal and entheogenic plants. An entheogen ("God inside us," en - "in, within," theo - "god, divine," gen - "creates, generates"), in the strict sense, is a psychoactive substance used in a religious, shamanic, or spiritual context.
Our publication will be a glossy, full color, full size magazine. We intend to have at least 28 pages and print at least 1000 copies. The money raised will go towards funding the cost of production, printing, and shipping of the first issue. Any extra money raised by our project will go towards printing more pages in the issue and more copies of the magazine.
For the first issue, we will feature an article on brewing herbal beers. It will be a primer on herbal beers as well as a recipe for a kratom brew. We will also have an article on the use of psilocybin mushrooms in the treatment of cluster headaches. We plan an interview with Jerónimo M.M., with The Ayahuasca Project/The Jungle Prescription (The Jungle Prescription tells the story of ayahuasca, a visionary Amazonian brew of indigenous origin and its encounter with the West, as played out through the story of two doctors). Another project that was recently funded through Kickstarter. We will also feature articles with information and photographs of various Banisteriopsis species, the sustainable harvest of root bark from Acacia and related species, a trip to Entheogenesis Australis, as well as a contribution from K. Trout.
We expect to have the magazine completed and ready for the printer by the time we receive the funding from Kickstarter. The first issue of the magazine will be in the hands of generous Kickstarters by the end of March. The magazines will be shipped in a brown envelope for privacy.

*Please note that Kickstarter is All-or-Nothing, meaning if we don't reach our goal of $5000 we will receive nothing. However, anything over our goal will be awarded to us!

Shipping and Packaging: $2000 - $1500 for shipping ($1.50 x 1000) and $500 for supplies (tape, envelopes, and other miscellaneous)
Content: $1000 for content and editorial cost.

I am currently employed at a small magazine publisher and have been for the last 5 years. I am familiar with all aspects of magazine production and distribution.
I have been studying ethnobotany for over 10 years and have been growing plants, namely vegetables, since I was a child.
