Update #6: Final Updates
This will be my final update on Kickstarter and I have two important things to mention:
For those of you in Austin, Texas… I will be giving a short presentation about my trip to India on October 6th.
Details here:

I recently received an email saying that Fatima, one of the women who learned crochet at the Dharavi workshop, has made her first full sized bag! Here's more about that:

Update #5: Back from India!
Miguel and I just returned from our 2-month trip to India!
Thanks to all the wonderful people and organizations we met met along the way (and of course all you great folks who helped kickstart our trip), we managed to teach 13 formal workshops, several more informal ones, and I estimate that 600-700 people learned the basics of plastic bag crochet.

*Also...for those backers who we owe rewards, you'll be receiving them shortly!
Thanks!

Thanks to you guys, I have surpassed my funding goal!
And I'll be in India next week.

I have workshops in Mumbai already scheduled every day from July 10-14 and I'm waiting to finalize the dates on a few more.
In preparation for the trip, I have also accumulated more than 200 crochet hooks.
For more updates, you can always check out my site (BagsBeGone.com), where I will be posting details as the trip progresses.

I am a strong proponent of plastic bag recycling, reuse, and conservation. And of course I love to crochet. My plastic bag crochet work has been displayed at various festivals and events, and I have taught free community workshops at numerous local and International locations.
