Creative Migration (CM) is a non-profit social entrepreneurship exploring the relationship between art + social change on a global scale.
We are launching an original documentary web series to inspire young adults to take creative action in their everyday lives. It is organized into several different mini-series, each focusing on a specific artistic project, collaboration or group. Our first mini-series is based on the art collective Red76 + their “Revolutionary Spirit” project.
Our concept is simple, to motivate young adults by creating fun + engaging content. Each episode features the music of a different up-and-coming band or artist. Our series embraces youth culture + gives a fresh perspective on the what a documentary should look + feel like.
Join us! Get Inspired. Take Action. Create Change. Discover how you can be a part of this CREATIVE MIGRATION!
FULL DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT :: Red76 is a multi-artist collective started in Portland, OR. Since 2000, they have produced numerous projects & have appeared in publications such as The New York Times & Art Forum. Their work has been shown in venues such as P.S.1 & Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
In late September 2008, prior to the US Presidential election, Creative Migration documented Red76’s experimental activities in NYC for 9 days. Their project called The Battery Republic was a mobile tavern that investigated the concept of Revolutionary Spirit. Many movements & revolutions began in taverns throughout history; where folks convened, relaxed & discussed their thoughts/feelings such as the Sons of Liberty did in the late 1700's leading up to the Revolutionary War.
The setting was a group contemporary art show called Democracy in America: The National Campaign organized by Creative Time, located at the Park Ave Armory on the Upper East Side. Not only did we capture this project, but also a pivotal time in the history of the United States of America, the dawn of the financial crisis.
