Stretch goals unlocked, new goals on the horizon with only 9 hours left! Music and Monsters!
Wow, that was an amazing last couple of days! I wasn't sure we'd see a big surge at the end given the release of Diablo 3 and our gradual but steady progress over most of the project. Yesterday was a huge day though, our 3rd biggest and today looks like certain to surpass even that!
We've already burned through all of the original stretch goals, which I honestly didn't even imagine could happen only a couple days ago. Not only are SAVAGE two-handed melee weapons going in now but we're going to have three end-game bosses and now an entire new town! Not to mention the minor goal of new / higher quality developer beer, by popular request, to replace the sad beer from Update #10. ; )
This brings us to a point where we can start considering some other ambitious goals. First, we've added a minor goal at $490k just to help expand the content with a few more monsters and items. Next is a bigger goal that will allow us to add a new dungeon art-set that you'll get to vote on between catacombs, sewers and possibly other options (currently we have cellar, cave and mine). The big goal at $520k is a new Survival gameplay mode that backers (both KS and existing website pre-orders) will get for free and which will be released after the full game (so as not to delay development). In survival mode, you'll fight against waves of increasingly difficult enemies to test your mettle and see how how many waves you can survive. Should be a ton of fun in co-op!
To top things off, we have another music track and a little work-in-progress screenshot for you. The screenshot is in-editor showing some of the monsters we have partially completed, waiting on animation, just to give you a taste of what is to come. We're also planning for some bigger, "demonier" enemies but currently we're just filling out the basics. Oh, well, yes, the Aetherial Obelisk in the back isn't just the basics, that will be more of a mini-boss encounter and you'll encounter a few of them. Also, of course, we'll be building 2 new bosses now. ; )
Now as the final hours count-down, I'll be running to the store to fulfill the develop beer stretch goal and then, while I keep an eye on the comments section, I'll be working on a final video update to thank everyone that has contributed to this life-changing past month.

To the Author: Well I hope that this Game will show the developers that ARPG-PC games r here Alive and hundreds of thousands gamers actually want them. And the game itself will not only bring a joy to us who already bought the,but also give u enough profit, so u can create 2nd part and even bigger titles in the future:D
Creator Christian Dannie Storgaard on May 19, 2012
@Alex: You don't have to "make a new engine and remake the game from scratch" to support Linux. You have to recompile, test and package; possibly tweak the rendering and sound-engine if you're not using proper cross-platform libraries. Why would assets need to change for another platform? ...though I do see the lure in penguin based enemies...
Creator Fengshen on May 19, 2012
Congratulations on reaching ALL the stretch goals! It cost me some Facebook-friends in the end who got sick of my endless spam to your KS-page and ended up unfriending me, but dayum was it worth it! Me and my girlfriend can't wait for our boxed editions to arrive when the game is finished!
Next year, when Grim Dawn releases and blows the world off its socks, I'll be the one who goes around saying: "See? I told you a year ago!"
As for your question, Connor, if I were you, I'd contact the KickStarter support about this and see how they can work this out. Since they're the ones charging your credit card, they are the ones who need the correct information in order to make the charge.
Creator Justin Walker on May 19, 2012
@Connor:

I think that will help you out.
Creator Connor Townsend on May 19, 2012
I have a problem, I pledged $32 for the project, but I totally forgot about the charge not going through until after I had already cancelled my old credit card. I have a new one now and I totally still want to go through with my pledge, but I need to switch the information, I don't think its going to go through now and I can't find a way to put my new information in. Please help!
Creator Kramer Davis on May 18, 2012
your puny stretch goals amused us!
Creator GPeterfreund on May 18, 2012
$535k unlocked! Congrats to all the devs!
Creator Thomas Evans on May 18, 2012
Wow, half a million+
Congrats Crate! Grim Dawn is going to be awesome!
Creator Stargazer on May 18, 2012
I returned my copy of Diablo 3 Collector's Edition, and used the cash on the Grim Dawn kickstarter instead. That's what you get for persistent online DRM, Blizzard! ;-)
Creator Cheesenium, Cheese Exiled in Torment on May 18, 2012
My gawd, the soundtrack is awesome. It's dark and atmospheric, very suitable for a grim looking game like Grim Dawn.
Creator Devil Man X on May 18, 2012
Sorry it took me so long to back you guys. I've been watching all along and wanted to but had to wait for the spare money. I even bought extra copies of Titan Quest on steam for my friends to get them excited about you guys. Good luck. Oh I saw someone else mention this but I will re-iterate. Please look at what Blizzard has done with Diablo III. Grim Dawn reminds me so much of what I was seeing in my head as I was looking forward to Diablo III. Thanks again guys.
Creator Alex on May 18, 2012
The game's engine is specific to Windows, and it'd take more than $525k to make a new engine and remake the game from scratch just because you can't be bothered to dual-boot.
Creator Andrew Richard on May 18, 2012
After the train wreck of D3's launch I can see why you'd be getting an upswing of pledges.
Creator Steven Miano on May 18, 2012
Pulling my backing due to lack of GNU/Linux (will leave a $1 maybe). Best of luck to you guys!
Creator Ian Knox on May 18, 2012
So excited for this. Great music. Glad I pledged what I did. Pay attention to what the people are saying about D3. Most of it is valid.
Creator Shawn Walker on May 18, 2012
Are you going to ship the editor at some point after the game?
Creator maxztt on May 18, 2012
Just scrap adding any additional stretch goal and give us a GNU/Linux version instead.
I would love to be able and play Grim Dawn natively.
Creator Javier Jimenez on May 18, 2012
Great music!
Creator Chris T on May 18, 2012
LOVE this track!
Creator Wayne Sung on May 18, 2012

Creator Mark Cribb on May 18, 2012
Congratulations on an awesome Kickstarter!
Creator Deadyapples666 on May 18, 2012
Hey Diablo 3 is great! Nothing wrong with it! And I Look forward to playing this game as well!
Creator SquigPie on May 18, 2012
We can all agree that Diablo 3 was a terrible game, let us discuss why this game is not.
Creator Fabian on May 18, 2012
@Beat Wolf Don't put words in my mouth, I said nothing about normal mode being a tutorial. This is simply how the game was designed, you get to run through it three times and the fourth difficult mode is the end game that most people will likely never finish. The progression curve for your character, disregarding items entirely, which is actually unfair, goes straight up to level 60, the enemies in the higher difficulties actually use mechanics you've never seen before and there's a lot more actual design that you yet have to discover.
I am not picking a fight, I love what Grim Dawn seems to be doing, but I don't like seeing Diablo 3 misrepresented, either. It is an amazing work.
Creator Beat Wolf on May 18, 2012
@Fabian, i really don't want to pick a fight, but finishing normal mode is still finishing it. There is that whole argument about "oh but normal mode is just the tutorial", but thats BS. No tutorial should ever take 12 hours to complete. I wanted to play again with another character, but there is just no challenge. The first act of nightmare also was way too easy. I will try act 2, but i dont think its going to become challenging. Which is really sad, the whole rest of the game is amazing.
Creator longbeach on May 18, 2012
+1 Fabian... it is sad that there are already pages of the highest rares in the auction house already.. and the way the in game merchants rip you off it basically forces you to the auction houses
Creator Fabian on May 18, 2012
@Beat Wolf: You "finished" Diablo 3? - No, you did not. Please don't lie. And if you were one of those rare few who did, you'll find this "too easy" as well, as having an entire army go farming for you probably won't be thought about even in the design document of the most difficult game.
You may have finished Diablo 3's normal mode, I'll give you that much.
Creator Pasha on May 18, 2012
Bless to reach linux goal ^_^
Creator Beat Wolf on May 18, 2012
Diablo 3 helped you. I finished diablo 3 and found it amazing, but way too easy. So in the search of a "better" diablo 3 i remembered this, and that it had a chance to be ported to linux. Still hoping for this by the way!
Creator Emmanouil Marinakis on May 18, 2012
Hehe on the contrary I always like Desert sections, was very happy earlier this week when the Desert was main set for Diablo 3 Act II, just like in Diablo 2 Act II :D
I'm pretty sure we need 550,000 stretch goals btw :D :) :D They'll be met for sure :)
Creator Craig Girten on May 18, 2012
I think the release of Diablo 3 has probably HELPED, rather than hindered, the KS effort. Blech!
Creator Kathy on May 18, 2012
That was amazing music! I think that was my favourite one I've heard so far! I'm sure you'll definitely get to $520k for the survival mode stretch goal, and maybe more than that :)
Creator Scott Hunter on May 18, 2012
The one environ I`d rather do without must be desert. Honestly, the desert in any Diablo or TQ game was/became a drag - not much for the eyes to feast on. LOVED the zombie spawning coffins (!), and structure interiors were fine, but... .
Excellent music, excellent progress. Yay!
Creator Ryan ries on May 18, 2012
maybe as a stretch goal if we hit 550k you release a small alpha for all the ones getting alpha versions of the game
Creator dale.aubin on May 18, 2012
Correction, the $78 level. I didn't realize I hadn't purchased the xpacs! Grats on $490K, those numbers are rising fast at the moment!
Creator ctankep on May 18, 2012
CATACOMBS! How about a Victorian-style metro? I think I've traveled enough catacombs and sewers to last me a lifetime.
Creator SquigPie on May 18, 2012
Wait, when does the extra dungeon set unlock? You didn't mention it.
Creator TECHNOmancer on May 18, 2012
The soundscape for this game is just incredible -- moody, layered, and intense! Thanks for an aural experience that's certain to be memorable!!
Creator pantsburgh on May 18, 2012
How you guys planned to build this game without good beer is beyond me. I'm glad I could be a part of increasing your quality of living while you make us excellent games. It's the least I can do for you guys not treating your customers like criminals!
Creator dimitris-13 on May 18, 2012
Monsters look uber cool.Actually everything in the game looks cool. But more importantly the soundtrack is PHENOMENAL.Will the game have voice acting.I believe that XP in survival mode would be wrong but how about loot. And also i would hope for an [underground aether mutant production facillity] dungeon.I am wishing you for the best. You deserve it.Keepin fingers crosed till we reach 520k stretch goal.
Creator Andy Martin on May 18, 2012
Bumped mine to the $32 level. After I get my girl hooked on Diablo III, she'll kill me if I don't get her a copy of this when it hits.
Creator dale.aubin on May 18, 2012
Threw down a 64 bit donation myself. I almost wish there was a 3 copy pack so I could get an extra copy for my friends wife. Regardless, I'm looking forward to the release of this game. :)
Creator Andy Martin on May 18, 2012
Epic music to listen to while I read about how exciting the last stretch of your campaign is going!
Creator Javier A Gomez on May 18, 2012
THIS IS AWESOME! Upgraded to co-op pack as well.
Creator mea on May 18, 2012
I have been stalking the Grim Dawn project for a long time but now finally pledged $50. As Kristian mentioned above, D3 may have been a contributing factor these last days - I don't think I have ever seen a more gamer-unfriendly product. Blizzard is not a company I wish to support and I have boycotted them.
But enough of that, and congratulations. Looking forward to alpha testing, whenever that happens.
Creator Kay Sindre Skogseth on May 18, 2012
Just upgraded to the deluxe co-op pack, so I can give one to my bro :)
Creator Lex on May 18, 2012
Also forgot to add in my comment Tombs would be cool too :)
Creator Alan Fernandez on May 18, 2012
Hopefully we will get to see that survival mode! everyone update your pledge to the adjacent higher tier!
Creator Derrick Hughes on May 18, 2012
Im so happy for you guys, lots of money to make the game you want and better beer! Woot!! I love the humor in the updates, you guys seem like you'd be a blast be work with :) Keep up the amazing work guys, can't wait to hear more!
Creator Magic666 on May 18, 2012
wow, got the 480... nice work people and congratz to Crate!
