WHAT?

WORKING is the darkly comic story of an employee (THE WORKER) who rises through the ranks to challenge his boss (MR. HUMPHREYS) for leadership of the retro-futuristic Gigacorp Industries, the "#1 processor of information analysis in the entire world." Upon joining Gigacorp, THE WORKER gets swept up in a bureaucratic nightmare involving excruciating training sessions, menacing staff meetings, and multiple corporate-sponsored suicides. When a "breakdown" occurs, THE WORKER is forced to prove his company loyalty in a series of challenges that could end in the termination of his job—and his life.

WHO?

Christopher Abbey has been working with moving pictures for the last 12 years of his life. Whether through the lens of a camera or via the endless possibilities of computer animation, he aims to create moving stories that captivate their audiences. He has worked on numerous broadcast, commercial and film projects for clients ranging from Nickelodeon and HBO to Playstation and XBOX. Currently based in downtown Los Angeles, CA, Chris aka Crabbey, as known by his friends and coworkers, puts his all into every project and hopes that this shows through in his finished product.

WRITER - Jeffrey Dinsmore - Blog Website

Jeffrey Dinsmore is a comedic writer, performer, and indie-press publisher based in Los Angeles. His body of work includes scripts, stories, and music for television, film, fiction, theatrical works, and advertising. As publisher of Awkward Press, he publishes and edits Awkward magazine, a regular anthology of short fiction. He wrote the original screenplays for the short films The Vanishing Point (based on his original short story) and Working (currently in production). His novels Johnny Astronaut and I, An Actress: the Autobiography of Karen Jamey have attracted cult audiences and glowing reviews from The Believer and Publisher's Weekly. Theatrical credits include original songs for Les Freres Courbusiers' Manifest Destiny and Megan Hayes's Opelika, as well as script and music for his own one-man-show-with-stuffed-animals Christmas with the Flamingos, produced by Oliver Butler of the Debate Society.

Born in Arizona, raised in Florida, and now living in sunny California, Elaina Porter is a freelance producer who spends her time locked inside away from daylight. She has worked with studios in Los Angeles, Berlin, and Dubai on motion-based projects ranging from network rebrands to multi-platform image campaigns. She is currently a producer at Roger LA.

WHEN?

Shooting is set to begin in August and last for 5 days. After wrapping up the shoot, we will move directly in to post production. We are scheduled to have a finished film by the end of October.

WHERE?

Principle photography will take place at the R&R gallery, a downtown Los Angeles art gallery.

HOW?

We will be maximizing our budget by using a combination of multi-function set pieces and green screen to create the vast Gigacorp complex. Crucial to the look of Gigacorp will be the machinery used in the offices; we'll be renting several pieces of equipment for the shoot to help convey the retro-futuristic feel of the film.
