CorkScrew Theater Co's debut show: Two couples and an uninvited guest converge on a small cabin in Maine's woods. And a miniature pig.

Who Are You?

CorkScrew Theater Company is a group of five young actors and a playwright who have come together to collaboratively devise and perform the kind of theater that we'd want to see. Corkscrew Theater Company is: Auden Thornton, Daniel Gonon, Jon Gordon, Meredith Mosbacher, and Ted Cava

What is this Thing You're Doing?

Eleanor lives with her boyfriend Malcolm in a small cabin in the Maine woods. She has been trying to finish her first audiobook, the one about a Jungian detective and a woebegone dwarf, for some time now. On this particular day in June, Eleanor and Malcolm are expecting Malcolm's brother Evan and Evan's girlfriend Sara, who plan to spend the night en route to Canada. But just as they arrive, an acquaintance of Evan's named Blithe appears unexpectedly. Blithe is a troubled young man, though he means well, and by the end of the day he has ruined everything.

Why Me?

Even shows housed in a cardboard box in New York City are incredibly expensive- especially if its a nice box. Your donations will help us to realize this play in its full potential. Help us help you help us!

A Space of One's Own

Finding a space to house our show is hands down our largest expense. Did you hear about that parking spot in downtown NYC that went for a million dollars? Look it up. We found ourselves a beautiful little cave at the Producer's Club on W 44th Street, right in the middle of the action, but to pay for it we need you.

Production Costs

With the craftiness of Martha Stewart and the financial savvy of Suze Orman, we're getting pretty creative to keep this show's budget as low as possible, but even with the dumpster diving, things add up. Lumber for sets, gels for lights, even printing scripts and programs can add up quickly.

Publicity

Created through days of workshops and improvisations, this show was written specifically for our company. This production is incredibly near and dear to our hearts. It has been such a pleasure to devise this piece and to watch it come to fruition through Brendan Pelsue's writing, and we want to make sure as many people as possible have the chance to enjoy it with us! So, this means sending out press kits, getting the news out, and finding any and all possible medias to spread the good word. Tell your friends!

What do I get?

Besides our undying gratitude, we have a handsome collection of rewards for our lovely donors, as you can see on the right side of this page. For folks on a budget who just want to see the show, we encourage you donate at the $20 level, in exchange for which you will get one ticket! We'll be selling tickets at that price later, so you lose nothing. Once you've donated we'll ask you what day and time you'd like to see the show, and we'll assign tickets in the order in which we receive your donation. In other words, the sooner you give, the more likely you are to get a seat at the showtime of your choice. (See below for dates and times.)
