*Important Shipping Info for ALL Non-US Backers – Danes too!
Make sure you've paid for shipping, or increase your pledge accordingly BEFORE the campaign closes!
***To do this, just visit the project page and click “Manage Your Pledge.” Enter a new amount in the pledge amount box -- this should be the total amount of the pledge PLUS the shipping. The amount you enter will be the total amount collected. For example, if you pledged at the $40 level and you live outside of the US and realized you didn't pay the $15 shipping (or $10 for Canada), then you adjust the pledge by entering $55 (or $50 for Canada)*** (This info comes directly from Kickstarter's FAQs page)
More on why ALL non-US backers need to pay shipping -- even Danes...
Throughout the campaign we've fielded a number of questions about shipping obligations -- mostly from Danes but also a few from folks in neighboring countries (Germany, Sweden, etc..). In addition to personal email responses, we have also posted an update and have added the question to our FAQs, but we figured one more reminder won't hurt, so for those of you still in the dark about shipping, let us shine a light on what the deal is...
First off, Copenhagen Parts is a product design team and bicycle accessory brand. Our office, as you might have guessed, is in Copenhagen. However, we don't directly handle the distribution of our products -- we leave this to our trusted distribution partners, and you'll all be be happy this is the case :-) We have one distributor in the US who handles that side of the globe and another in Europe who handles everything else.
Because Kickstarter is a US-based platform, in a roundabout way, all of the orders originate and are based there. So, this is the simple answer to why only US backers get free shipping. Another reason why US-backers are spared shipping is because it costs far less to move product around the States. Our US-based distributor can ship the lights around the country for a fraction of the cost of our European partner -- the US is just cheaper in that, and many other, regards.
However, when non-US backers take a look at what they get for $15, it makes a lot more sense...
- Our European distributor will handle all customs tariffs and administrative fees associated with landing the goods in Europe -- that means you won't have to bail your shipment out of the post office when it arrives.
- They will organize the paperwork, package the lights efficiently, and get them shipped out even before they hit the shelves in bike shops around your city.
- Your lights will land at your doorstep in a nice, pretty little box, and well before all of your friends -- the ones that forgot to back the project -- can get their dirty little hands on them!
We hope this all makes sense. Thanks again for all of the support and for your understanding in this matter.
Cheers,
Copenhagen Parts

Also did not pay for shipping in time, but still want to: how to correct that???
Great initiative, looking forward to Dec. 2012!

The same for me - could not react that fast :-)
But happy that you made it - when will the adhesive solution for alu bikes be available and can that be cleared by paypal as well?

Hmm ok, I just read this update as well...guess I too need to pay additional for the international shipping? Let me know how you want to solve it...
(surely hope Kickstarter will find a solution to this in the future...a wee bit confusing to pay international shipping when I back a local danish idea...)
Anyway...congrats on the funding! Great work!

That goes for you, too, Kyle and anyone else that comes across this issue. We can square it away with a workaround later.

Hi Kevin,
We can square it away with PayPal or something at a later time -- just won't be as clean and automated, but don't worry.
Have a good weekend and thanks for the support!

I wanted to update my pledge to include shipping a few minutes ago – got an error message and now I am unable to update it as the project has closed. What do I do now?
Creator Kyle Nash on September 21, 2012
Hi there,
I just got the update info about increasing the pledge to account for shipping and the option to add is already gone! I was less than a day to do this. I want to increase mine to account for shipping, how do I do this now?
Thanks,
Kyle

Hey Guys,
It will not be a problem -- when we send out the backer surveys we will confirm shipping addresses.
Thanks for the support!

Hi, I have the same question as Roy. How do I change the shipping address to be different from my credit card billing address?
Creator Roy See on September 20, 2012
Hi guys, can you confirm it's okay I'm opting for shipping within the US even though my credit card billing address is outside of the US? Thanks!
Creator Jason Shurb on September 20, 2012
Ah, otherwise you would be on the hook for not only import but export taxes as well.
