Lights Out! Downloadable solo campaign and optional goodies
By popular demand, we're working on some solo play rules. There'll be a scenario where Vanguard infiltrators with optical camo are attempting to get to an area of the station that has lost power. The only kink in the plan, of course, are patrolling Strain guarding the module! Playing as Vanguard, avoid a firefight as long as you can; get in and get out, like a whisper in the wind....
So, if you're going to be sitting home alone, in the dark, what about some cool optional figures?

Photos for reference only, requires assembly. Actual Opticamo and Glow in the Dark figures will ship with scenic bases.
You don't need this pack to play the Lights Out campaign, but it looked so cool, we had to make some for ourselves. And since we're already making them....
Here's what's in the pack (Kickstarter and conventions only, we're only making these once):
Glow in the Dark Strain
- Phase 1-1 x 3
- Phase 1-2 x 3
- Phase 1-3 x 3
- Phase 2-1 x 3
- Phase 2-2 x 3
Opticamo Vanguard
- Helmed Male Samaritan with Las x 3
- Helmed Female Samaritan with Las x 3
- Helmed Female Samaritan with Grenade Launcher x 1
- Female Samaritan and Las x 2
- Female Samaritan and Lancer x 1
- Male Reaver x 1
And of course, not to forget our stretch goals

If we hit this stretch, every Lights Out campaign pack gets an additional glow in the dark Scythe Witch and Brimstone and a Opticamo Kara and the rest of the characters! (Don't have shots for the Opticamo characters yet, but you get the idea).

The ever popular AI Drone gets a buddy! If we hit this stretch, every Biohazard set gets another Drone! Infect this nanofools! Comes unassembled and unpainted.

Thank you for the anwers, guys.
Creator Keegan Fink on June 13, 2012
All downloadable campaigns will be FREE to all backers, the purchasable pack is purely *optional*
Creator Christopher Dalton on June 13, 2012
Jairo- you don't have to buy the figures, as well all be getting the solo campaign rules. They are just an optional extra, you could use tokens to the same effect if you wanted.
Creator Jairo González Arroyo on June 12, 2012
I need to buy the "Lights out campaing pack" to take the Lights out (solo)campaing?
Creator Keegan Fink on June 12, 2012
Mike Mcvey also clarified questions about the camo just a little bit in the main comment section:
.
"I just wanted to say something about the optical effect miniatures. There will be rules to use them in games - but it won't be 'official'. These extra promotional pieces (like Ridley and the optical sets) are just for fun really - we'll give you some rules to us them, but they are not in the rulebook, so they aren't official. Just an addition to the core game that can be used or not, as you choose.
The same is broadly true for solo play rules - the version we release will be for people to have a go with and see what they think - sort of like a beta test really. If they go down well, we'll most likely polish them up, and put them in a future expansion as an official part of the game. "
Creator Robert Baxter on June 12, 2012
@ Christopher Dalton ~ Yes, the vanguard and strain will be able to switch modes... How you use the rules ultimately is up to you.
Creator Christopher Dalton on June 11, 2012
Rob, Mike, CMON- it has been stated that there are mechanics associated with the clear/glowing figures. I am wondering if these mechanics allow for the vanguard/strain to switch from regular form to camo/glowing. I am super interested in knowing this. Also, do these mechanics come into play anywhere outside I solo play, ie will we be able to use them in normal 2 player games? Thanks in advance!
Creator Roberto Lopez on June 11, 2012
Yeah no interest in the those new minis or the stretch goal that relates to them.
Creator Andrew Pearce on June 11, 2012
I have no interest in the $50 minis or the $240K stretch goal either.
Creator Keegan Fink on June 11, 2012
If C'MON doesn't break the Lights Out miniatures into two separate packs (set 1 vanguard, set 2 strain) at around $25-30 per set, then I would sooner buy another terrain pack before getting glow in the dark strain I don't want (if only to get the camo vanguard I really like).
Creator Sven Tscheppainz on June 11, 2012
I'd also love to see the possibility to get the clear set only. While I might be able to afford the clear minis - for the whole set it is simply a no.
And yes, you might get minis at 2$ a piece, but with the terrain set you get them for 43cent!?
Creator Tim Jones on June 11, 2012
+1 for the Vanguard Optical Camo only option... would be cool to have them, but not bothered with glow in the dark minis :)
Creator Michael Martin on June 11, 2012
Thanks for the solo rules! That is awesome!!
Creator Keegan Fink on June 11, 2012
Hey C'MON, please consider a $25 Optical Camo only option.
.
I'm not sure if that affects your packaging for shipment, but seeing how it's Kickstarter only, can you at least throw us a bone for those of us who wish to avoid the green glowing strain?
Creator James Greene on June 11, 2012
Process is injection molding anyway you look at it but I will agree that the materials change. More expensive is sort of a relative term when you consider that other games will use clear or translucent figures to denote elite or upgraded units (i.e. Monsterpocalypse). Maybe if there were tiles with UV ink or glowing features it would help to sell the lights out scenario a bit better. If you have ever seen the Milton Bradley game "Vampire Hunter" the day/night effect was actually integral to the game.
Creator Keegan Fink on June 11, 2012
A clear confirmation from Mike Mcvey from the general comment feed: "Just to clear this up. Everyone get's the solo play rules - the optical effect miniatures are purely optional."
Creator Gloria_Invictus on June 11, 2012
but these are clear and glow in the dark, its not really fair to compare them to the standard minis. the process is more expensive and they are unique.
Creator James Greene on June 11, 2012
$50 seems a bit expensive considering I could throw in another $40 and upgrade from "Biohazard" level to "We've got Movement" which is way more bang for the buck.
Your $240k stretch goal would make way more sense if it gave your "glow" backers the additional characters in glowing/opticamo colors and your "non-glow" backers the additional figures in regular (doubles basically) unless of course your trying to arm twist the $50 upgrade.
Creator Gloria_Invictus on June 11, 2012
@Alexey - yes these minis are listed as coming with the csutom bases....I am actually starting to warm up to these......no must resist
Creator Stijn Van der Jonckheyd on June 11, 2012
I'll be settling in for 270k too, love the solo campaign but $50 for dayglow mini's, sorry but no. I mean as a gimmick it would be fun to see... ...once! I'll just pretend the solo campaign download is the 240k strechgoal and leave it at that. I just hope they havn't made a mistake with this one.
Creator Alexey Soshnev on June 11, 2012
Do these minis come with custom terrain bases? The ones in the picture seem to be on regular 25mm round bases.
And "rest of characters" includes: Kara, Akosha, medic, Barker?
Thanks!
Creator Michael Salt on June 11, 2012
i would agree with David as well. i do quite like them, i must asmit (i am a sucker for collectible stuff) And i have put another $50 on my pledge, but i can always choose between lights out, or a set of the dice/terrain/ridley!
I would also second a stretch goal for custom foam trays for the models (if only coz it seems like a popular suggestion.) Not that i would be too personally fussed though (in my experience plastic models don't need as much care as metals, so i would prefer to just get everything in piled up one box, maybe with little partitions for vanguard/strain/tiles/dice/cards.
Creator Stefan Lundsby on June 11, 2012
Not to hooked on those glowing Strain either, but really like the OptiCamo minis, and would love to see those in a separate pack as well. Especially if that would include OptiCamo Kara and remaining characters ;o)
Creator DaveC on June 11, 2012
I'd also like to see this split into two $25 packs one for the Vanguard and one for the Strain with the $240k stretch unlocking the extra Vanguard characters for the Vanguard pack or the Phase 3 Strain for the Strain pack (or both if you buy both)
Creator Antonio Ferreiro on June 11, 2012
I would pay those extra $50 for a bag for these. Foam specially designed for the game would be great and it would worth the extra money.
Creator Antonio Ferreiro on June 11, 2012
@Poul, Yes, 29 minis, but they are clear/glow in the dark minis. For $50... The Biohazard has about 80 minis right now for $100, and it also includes tiles, dice, etc.
And, someone said the stretch goal for optional pack was here before with Dr. Ripley. That's true, but that mini didn't cost $50 :P
Anyway, it's a good offer for glow in the dark minis fans. But I'm not one of those.
Creator Peter Pumpkineater on June 11, 2012
+1 for separate OptiCamo minis.
Creator Arkangel on June 11, 2012
@Cmon, guys can you PLEASE UPDATE the front page so that people who pledge the extra money have a clear understanding that a survey/email will be sent so that people can manage their add ons. So many people are/were confused as its not been explained and they dont show up as selectable extras when you opt o manage your pledge. Its getting a lot of people not accustomed to kickstater very confused. The question has come about every 30 posts or so. Thanks
Creator Richard Ensley on June 11, 2012
If you don't like the clear or glow ones you could paint over them? Is that not possible?
Creator Poul Erik Holmelund on June 11, 2012
29 (I cant imagine they wont hit the 240K goal) extra miniatures for 50$ seems like a pretty good deal. Less than 2$ pr. miniature.
Creator Erasmus MusicCentre on June 11, 2012
Yeah, I'm not entirely enthused by the 240K stretch goal either. Its hard to put into words, but it just feels kind of wrong that the stretch is an upgrade to an optional pack of miniatures that not everyone wants or can afford. The option to buy minis to make the game cooler is great, and stretch goals that help things get added to or put back into the actual game are also motivating when it comes to publicising the fund and adding more to one's pledge. But upgrades to optional packs? Not so much, at least not if I'm not planning to buy the upgrade. Still happy to be backing the game, but, as someone already said, its a long wait till 270K.
Creator Tom D.B. on June 11, 2012
Glow in the dark, no thanks. You might see your mini's in the dark, but not your rules.
Besides $50? Really... Sorry not for me.
Creator Gloria_Invictus on June 11, 2012
everyone recieves the solo campaign - it is not tied to the clear pack.
Creator Anton Kuchman on June 11, 2012
@Minstersam:
The way this update is worded suggests that everyone will receive the solo campaign for free.
Creator Daniel Corteza on June 11, 2012
Agree with @ Keegan. I just wish they split up the clear Vanguards and glowing Strains. Say 25$ each; and the stretch could be, you get an opticamo Kara if you get the vanguards and strains get their stretch as well... Wishful thinking, I hope they reconsider though. Would definitely grab those opti camo Vanguards in a heartbeat.
Creator Mistersam on June 11, 2012
So,.. to get the solo rules, do I have to buy this pack? Am not interested in glowing mini, like Keegan Fink say, who play with the light off?
Creator Greg Santo on June 11, 2012
Definitely not enthralled with the 240K Stretch, which only triggers if you purchase Lights Out. Seems like an attempt to fund creation of the clear and glow in the dark minis for conventions.
Creator Adrián Doyle on June 11, 2012
Pretty disappointed with these stretches, then again, the game is packed as it is. I'll pass on the clear-glow minis, so $240K stretch is also pointless to me, oh well, $50K away from something interesting...
Creator Kevin Munn on June 11, 2012
I would love to see these split out. The glow in the dark strain don't interest me that much. But optic cammo space marines - yes please. Can I have more?
As for the price, at less than $2 a mini these are a steal.
Creator CoolMiniOrNot on June 11, 2012
@Deimos just add the $50 to your pledge (click the "Manage pledge" button on the top right of the Kickstarter project page for Sedition Wars) and we'll confirm your options after this Kickstarter concludes with a survey.
Creator Deimos on June 11, 2012
I would like to get this pack but it's not an option on the pledge list. I already have pledged for the main project, how can I add the solo campaign figures?
Creator Jon Sharp on June 11, 2012
Hoping for more game boards as the next stretch. With all the extra minis, we need more places to put them!
Creator John Falcon on June 11, 2012
As a solo gamer, I like the components but at $50 a pop, I'll need to take a wait and see attitude. I have earmarked only so much money to go above my original pledge and as long as further add-ons do not break the bank, I'll pick one up later....
Creator Jon Sharp on June 11, 2012
Yeah, not a big fan of this one. For less money, I can jump to 2X Biohazard, which I would much rather do. With as many minis as we are getting for $100, it just seems overpriced. That being said, I am just going to hope that enough people are interested to get us to $270, and pretend in my head that the next stretch goal is there.
Creator João Flávio G. Falaschi on June 11, 2012
I'll have to pass this.... Happy for the solo rules, but I felt bad for this new Stretch goal in general... I'm with Lee Lowe here.... maybe this was a mistake...
Creator Gloria_Invictus on June 11, 2012
@Sean, I think its fair - it was the same way with the infected Dr. Ridley - only for those that purchased her.
Creator Anton Kuchman on June 11, 2012
@Melvin +1:
Battlefoam has been known to create custom figure enclosures to accommodate other boardgames in the past (that fit into the original game box) and since this $240K stretch goal seems to be geared towards non-painters, it could be cool to have some kind of custom Battlefoam included as an addon for painters when $240K is reached.
Creator Pedwidge on June 11, 2012
I'm let down with the new stretch goals as well. I would have liked to see the Drone as the next stretch goal with the glow phase 3 as another group of extras. I think the clear and glow are neat, but I will be passing on them as well.
Creator The Irishman on June 11, 2012
So if I'm reading this correctly, there is no stretch goal at $240K unless you purchase the Glow-in-the-Dark pack? If that's the case, that's a bit frustrating. I feel like it's a bit of a slap in the face to not even provide a $240K stretch to those that won't (or can't) plop down another fiddy bones.
Creator Keegan Fink on June 11, 2012
I kind of wish the Vanguard (clear) nd the Strain (glow in the dark) were available as selects packs, as I would TOTALLY spring for clear optical camo Vanguard, but can't bring myself to buy the Strain (who plays with the lights off?)
