Can't wait to see what the next stretch will be.
Creator Todd David Peters on May 27, 2012
Sweet, thank you for sharing. I am even more interested in this now!
Creator Eric Nielsen on May 27, 2012
Thanks for the notes! Very excited for this. (just three more biohazards to the 60K stretch!)

I meant to say they will upgrade to ranged models like the Quasimodo or hard to hit models like the Scythe Witch. I didn't mean to imply that the Quasimodo was hard to hit, mine got gunned down after blasting a Vanguard on turn one with an corrosion AOE. Vanguard shoot pretty well.

Certainly. It was just one short example of the mechanics and how they function. One of the main reasons I backed this is simply because I want to learn the rest of it. Ill do my best to jot down all I can remember. I apologize in advance if I don't have the answers to all of your burning questions. Ill just give a quick overview of some basics. I didn't play Vanguard, so I have less on them, sorry.
There were 4 Vanguard troopers vs 6-7 Strain monsters. I played Strain. Besides the Strain models there were several markers representing the Nano virus itself. The Nano virus is like a moving resource that can upgrade your strain models into more powerful versions. You actually have to move the resource counters just like they were models. I was told that the markers can also go through air ducts and similar places. This mechanic has a couple of different purposes that I was made aware of (there might be more). It can move onto Vanguard corpse tokens and make new strain models (unless they were melted or vaporized or something). It can also infect Vanguard models in certain circumstances but they get armor saves. The most important aspect of it is that it spawns more token from a central point on the board if the Vanguard dont stop it. What this means is that budding Vanguard players will be in real trouble if they think they can let the Strain come to them along nice happy bottlenecks. Let the Strain build up to much and they will upgrade to ranged monstrosities and other very hard to hit models like the Scyth-Witch or Quasimodo. Vanguard have a command point like system as their resource. It represents their armor suits networked together. It can allow some models to forward observe for the big guns to to do some things like shoot through walls.
Rest assured the system was pretty deep with lots of abilities on each model. This game is going to be cool.

@David B - it is good to hear you liked it when you played it, but details would be awesome if you cared to share.

I just played a demo of this at Kublacon. Fun!

I'd love to see more minis for each stretch goal but map pieces would be great too! Or even a squad oc the miner faction minis to see what would happen if they accidently stumbled upon the lab :)
Creator Daniel Brylla on May 27, 2012
I really hope one of the next stretchgoals will be the Phase thingies...I really like them :D
Creator CoolMiniOrNot on May 26, 2012
Mm... I can certainly see the possibility of a 2 squad variant rule. Nothing official yet though.
Creator Jerahmeel Godinez on May 26, 2012
I'm just wondering, since this game is modular, If I got two copies would this game become a 2vs2? Cause, a 2 player game isn't enough for a group game and two separate games wouldn't feel like a group either...
Creator Phillip M. on May 26, 2012
Hmm, Can I give up meals for a week to pay for all the extras?
Creator Alan Candler on May 26, 2012
Awesome only second stretch and it's a big nice squad, probably end up with an entire Vanquard army by the time this KS is over
Creator Daniel Nyberg on May 26, 2012
