My imaginary town needs real help. I am raising funds to display in a gallery 50 drawings and biographies of the residents of Colorido.

In March 2009, I created an ongoing project, named Colorido, to better my drawing and writing skills. Imagining that each character I draw lives in a town named Colorido, I also write biographical sketches to accompany each drawing.

I am raising funds to buy fifty 12 x 18” frames so that I can display a selection of these drawings on paper in Chicago’s Flat Iron Arts Building. Created with pastels, these fragile drawings need a frame’s protection.

Full of fascinatingly eccentric characters, the residents include a deranged composer, a brujo who changes into a crow, a minotaur, a child phantasm, a blue-skinned living god, a man who never sleeps, and a dog-faced boy. This is an ambitious project that I am eager to see displayed in a gallery setting. I believe that fifty of these drawings displayed together will make an inspiring impact in a well-visited community art space.

Thank you for assisting me in making Colorido come to life.
