WORLD PREMIERE OF THE COMEDIC NOIR "THE RED HERRING" TO DEBUT IN JULY 2012 (and we need your help!)
The Collective Project, Inc., is pleased to announce that it will open its 2012 season with a world premiere production of Atlanta playwright Greg Garrison's comedic noir, The Red Herring, at the Goat Farm Arts Center in midtown Atlanta. But we need your help to get us there!
Directed by Andrew Crigler and featuring Matthew Myers as Detective Steel and Matt Bartholomew as Watley Holm, The Red Herring is full of wickedly fast dialogue, a joke for every sentence, and more puns than you can shake a stick at.
“This is a comedy where the jokes are more than just funny but also part of the story, and that was my main objective when writing The Red Herring,” says Garrison. “For every play on words, there is another mystery to solve and for every zany character, there is a heart of gold.”
The Red Herring begins one dark and stormy night when Detective Stainless Steel and his assistant Watley Holm are asked to retrieve a stolen artifact, the coveted Red Herring. As the mysteries start to unfurl and the players begin showing their hands, the detectives can't help but feel the Red Herring is just a distraction from a much greater ordeal: the Wrong Brothers make all the decisions that earn them their name; kingpin Preston Langford pulls all the strings from the shadows; and lounge singer Vesper Kind has all of the answers, but has a hard time sharing them with her ex-husband Steel.
The Red Herring marks yet another original production by The Collective Project, Inc., which produced the critically-acclaimed City of Lions and Gods and The Girl From 2a in 2011. The Red Herring will have previews Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 14 and will run Thursdays through Sundays July 19-29. All performances will be in the Rodriguez Room at the Goat Farm Arts Center.
Your Kickstarter pledge of support will help us offset the costs of marketing and promotional materials, design and production elements (sets, costumes, etc.), artist fees, and rehearsal space. We are committed to bringing the highest quality of original work to the Atlanta community and thank you in advance for your generous contribution!
