Lincoln Theatre Guild's Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory

The Lincoln Theatre Guild is a group of theatre-loving parents, teachers, students and community members, working together to support the theatre arts at Lincoln High School.  The Guild is a necessary support system for our program that the state and school system doesn't provide.

The LTG Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory was created to provide an enrichment activity for students throughout the San Jose area for young people ages 12-18 during the summer break.  The conservatory itself is low-cost, with scholarships offered to many students in need.  In just 20 days, our performers learn theatre ethics, Broadway dance styles, audition skills, puppetry, make-up and aspects of technical theatre, while rehearsing and producing an entire musical to showcase at the end of the conservatory.  Half of our day is spent in educational workshops; the other half is devoted to production rehearsal.  In the past, we've produced "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown", "Into the Woods", "Aladdin" and "School House Rock Live"; this year we are excited to showcase Disney's "The Little Mermaid". 

We believe that students of the arts are better prepared for the challenges that life will bring them in the near and distant future. The skills learned and practiced to be on stage transfer directly to the modern workplace in areas of creativity, self-confidence and teamwork. An arts education is invaluable but, sadly, not fully funded by our government or educational system.  That's why we are turning to you.

To make this experience exceptional for our performers, we need your help to make it happen. All funds will go toward the purchase of costumes for this production.  We have budgeted $3300 for costumes, and are asking for your help to raise $1650, or one-half of that amount.  Exceeding that, of course, wouldn't be such a bad thing either!
