I've been checking back every so often and sharing links to this project! I hadn't checked the page in a couple days, but then today checked and I see the main goal has been surpassed! Awesome! I'm so glad this will be made.

Hi Kiandra,
If possible could the producer credit read as:
Anvil*
-----
That is the label most of the internet knows me by. :-)
Yes a worthy project, Good luck.

Hi Kiandra!
Thank you so much for your comment. We certainly hope to explain the nuances and complexities of gender, sex and orientation in much more detail for the finished product. Our short Kickstarter video certainly cannot do the topic justice. The finished product will also include resources designed for educators, medical providers and other journalists who want to dive into the topic.
I also appreciate pointing out the medicalization of the topic by traditional media coverage. We completely agree and plan to also call this out in our project. Dacia and I hope to elevate the conversation by picking up where most coverage ends. For us, the "costs of gender" is not just about how expensive the procedures are, but more importantly about the complex social, personal/interpersonal, psychological and emotional costs charged against trans folks, pre, during, and post transition.
Thanks so much for your support and insight!

I think you might need to explain the difference between sex, gender identity/subconscious sex, and masculinity/femininity in more detail. You could also introduce concepts like intersex, genderqueer and cisgender. You could also talk about how trans coverage in the media almost always focuses on the physical transition as if to say that a trans person's gender is somehow artificial or less valid than a cis person's. Other points of discussion could be the gatekeepers and the extra pressure on trans people to perform masculinity/femininity. It depends how much detail you want to go into explaining gender and the queer community.

Hi Mana, we can definitely make that happen. I'll add a note to your reward for a digital download only.
Thanks so much for your support!

I don't want to claim the other reward features, but I want to get the digital download which has now been added to the $15 tier. Will the download link be offered to people who select "no reward"?

This is a great project, and I have no doubt that you'll reach your goal, over 20% of the way there in just a couple of days!
Could you put up info on international shipping rates, or whether you're willing to ship to places like the UK?
Also, I'd like to suggest making a downloadable digital copy of the film available in addition to the DVD, it would certainly get me to up my pledge.
All the best, and I hope you overshoot well enough to really spread the message.
