Time for another update on the Factions goodies.

Q-Workshop sent me some photos of the first prototype mould of the new Relic Ship die. Remember, this is just a preliminary sample, not the finished product, but I think they're on the right track, here. :-)

A question was raised about whether the die would be transparent or frosted.  Well, the answer is neither...and both.  Here is an image of the "translucent" dice used by Q-Workshop. They are somewhere between the clear die in AF's first printing and the frosted die used in AF's 2nd and 3rd printing. They look almost like ice cubes. I like this a lot and it kind of reminds me of the crystalline look of the artifact on the Alien Monument card.  Hope you approve.

Hi All...I just got some pics from Panda of the colony plastics. We already know some of the colors are too bright, but I wanted to share these with you anyway. Ah, I love a bit of progress :-)

Things are moving along...slowly...but moving along.  The current timeline has the Factions shipment arriving at our warehouse by the end of June. Again, I apologize for the delays. I hope you will continue to be patient, but if anyone is too tired of waiting and wants a refund, please send me a note and I'll make the arrangements.

I received proof photos of the first Field Generator minis from the plastics factory and I thought y'all would like to see how pretty they look.

Hi There...

I've been kind of quiet with the Factions updates lately because there's not been any cool news to share. I expect to hear from Panda shortly with a timeline for final production and shipping for AFF stuff, but it is unlikely to arrive before mid-June at this point. Curse those plastics!!!  :-)

In the mean time, here are a couple of pics for you. One is the production proof of the Factions box and contents. The other is my design idea for the custom Relic Ship die that all of the backers will get for free as the final stretch reward. If the die blank is available in transparent then that's what I'll have made, otherwise it will be frosted. Let me know what you think.

Hi There Factions Backers. You've been very patiently waiting for some updated news.

There is, as the saying goes, good news and bad news.  

The good news is that the pre-proofs for the REV and Field Generator Plastics are looking SWEET! Take a look at these.  The REV is just like it was in Alex's sculpt, but the Field Generators were upgraded by Panda's art team to give them sharper angles, smoother sides, and an all-around spiffied up appearance. In the images below, the dark green sculpts are the originals and the lighter casts are the upgrades.

The colony domes also got an upgrade, but until they cast the clear plastic domes they're not really anything to see. I'll post a big unveiling when they're ready.

Now, the bad news. We are simply not going to meet the original March 2012 target. The plastics factory was just so backlogged that they've only gotten to our project in that last few weeks. At this point, I do not expect to have the AFF items until sometime in June. Sorry.

As per my backer promise, though, you can rest assured that your stuff will be mailed out at least two weeks BEFORE these items are available in any store or convention or back-alley black market. After your advance access is satisfied we'll send them out to retailers and will probably aim at GenCon to be the big release event.
