About this project

Chicago International Movies and Music Festival is a 501c3, non profit organization and all donations above $100 are tax deductible.

'THIS NEEDS TO BE IN CHICAGO....FOR THE WORLD'

In 2008, Bulgarian filmmaker, Ilko Davidov approached his neighbor, musician Josh Chicoine, with an idea to create a film festival spotlighting the convergence of music and film. Despite the many film festivals around the world, few had this focus and none in the United States brought all forms and fashion of music, musicians, artists and filmmakers together from all over the world for four days of screenings and concerts, innovation and inspiration in the middle of America. Music and movies are a unifying force. We aim to provide a continuing platform that shows us - to us.

FLASH FORWARD

In March of 2009, the first CIMMfest took place and proved that not only the city, but the world wanted this to happen. Over 6 days, 15,000 people attended the 50 plus screenings from 21 countries, at 6 historic venues around Chicago. US and world premiere films combined with foot-stomping nightly concerts to entertain, educate, inform, and inspire. We're doing it again.

CIMMfest '10 is coming in early March and we need your help. From bookings, to transportation, to marketing and promotions, equipment and venue rentals, hotels and hospitality, the costs associated with producing the festival are huge. With corporate sponsors bowing out left and right (especially for a second year event), and city, state, and federal cultural funds drying up, we need every kind of support to keep the Festival alive and thriving.

Our program for 2010 is bigger and better with live performances by Robyn Hitchcock, DJ Spooky, Thee Majesty featuring Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Jon Langford, Mucca Pazza and many more. Along with world, U.S. and Chicago premiere screenings, we're hosting retrospectives by Patti Smith guitar ripper Ivan Kral and underground phenom Marie Losier. This is an ambitious project, and with your help, we can make it happen and keep it happening every year with even more top films and live performances..

EVEN THE SMALLEST DONATION HELPS!! As this project's term extends beyond the Festival end date, we will be modifying our awards program after the Festival.

UPDATE: CIMMfest was a great success, however, we are still limping along due to financing and need this Kickstarter more than ever! Because our kickstarter project extends beyond the Fest end date - rewards will carry over to CIMMfest '11!!!
