The CicLAvia organization is a broad-based community coalition that is working to establish a comprehensive, region-wide program that addresses key issues facing Los Angeles. The grassroots, volunteer-driven movement has found support from individuals, organizations, and government agencies that cover a broad spectrum. The CicLAvia steering committee includes members from diverse backgrounds, including bicycle and public space advocacy, graphic design, urban and environmental planning, arts and culture, event production, journalism, and engineering. This coalition’s objective is to institute substantial policy changes that allow Southern Californians to reclaim the streets and make active use of existing public infrastructure.
Great job with the event. It appeared to be well organized and everyone that I saw on the route looked like they were having a good time, I know I did.
So sorry I missed CicLAvia! How'd it turn out? Have you posted pictures?
if u do get this started then you need to have senior day (60+) and kid day (12-) and set up stages for concerts and food stands. and the respected day the respected people get free stuff.
I live in south carolina and i have realized somthing in my trip 2 europe is that everyone bikes and walks is europe. in amsterdam they have a red road right off the car road just for bikers walkers and one man smart cars. the us is a much bigger countrey that a lot of the continet of europe and where we need to go sometimes is a long way away but my father and i ride long distance on bikes and my longest is 105 miles. me and my dad are very fit and my dad rides every day.
HE'S 50!!!!!!! i love the idea of rideing and walking to where you need to go. it will get out of shape people on the right track and this contrey on the right track.
Oh, it sounds so lovely to ride on city streets even for a day with no traffic worries. Looking forward to it!!
This is great! It's also on my birthday so will invite my friends to do a new Love Parade and celebrate with random arts of kindness :)
Oakland, CA just had their first Oaklavía event last Sunday - it was a hit! Good luck, LA!!!
