Liquisity was released as a freeware game back in 2005, where you guided a ball to the goal in the deep ocean depths. It was a small little game that was quite popular, and was one I always wanted to go back to and make a sequel. You can grab a free copy of the game right here!

Back then I would do all the graphics on my own, which is why it looks so crude. The music was also copyrighted stuff I used from other sources, but I was pretty ignorant in using things like that. Nowadays I get all my art and music either licensed or composed specifically for my game projects, and the results so far are leagues better than anything I could do on my own.
What I want to do.
I've been transitioning from a hobby-related freeware designer to an indie commercial game maker since I graduated college a year and a half ago. The results have been about as good as I can expect given my current audience and choices as a first time commercial designer, which is to say, unspectacular at it's best. But I've learned quite a lot over the past few months, and I feel I have gotten much better at making indie commercial games. (check out my work at my main site, vertigogaming.net)
Still, sales from my currently released commercial projects (Spirits of Metropolis and ShellBlast, two somewhat hardcore puzzle games) are not enough to cover the costs I have going into my next three projects. This was my fault as I was attempting to break into a genre that had a limited audience to begin with- puzzle games. But I have some big opportunities coming up in the near future that I think will really boost my tiny "company"/community.
Why I need you.
Between January and May, I have an opportunity to finish Liquisity 2. I have paid for many of the game's assets already and they are about 75% complete. But at this moment I am completely out of cash and quite a bit in the red in getting my other projects out the door, and my part time job as a substitute teacher doesn't cover the expenses.
Basically, I need the assets done by March but I can't afford the $800 to do that...and if I miss this window between January and May, I doubt I can make Liquisity 2 any time before late 2011.
What the money will be used for.
I need about $500 to finish up the art and $300 to finish the music tracks (which are being done by Sara Gross and Jonathan Geer, fantastic artists in their respective fields). I know that doesn't sound like much, but I've already invested a good amount of my own money into it and that's the amount it will take to get me to the finish line. Additional funds will be used to cover licenses and the costs to port the game to other platforms and consoles, which I plan to announce to backers very soon!
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you played and enjoyed Liquisity, then consider that a very basic skeleton on what I'll be making Liquisity 2 on. Plus, your contribution will get you a very nice discount on the game when it's released!
Thanks again,

Get a copy of Liquisity 2 for free when it's released in 2010, essentially better than a preorder as the final game will retail for more than $8! Plus get a sneak peek at the development of the game, which will be updated exclusively for backers of this Kickstarter project.
Along with a copy of Liquisity 2, get copies of Spirits of Metropolis and ShellBlast, which are other commercial projects I have completed. Given that Spirits and ShellBlast retail for $15 total, this is a pretty nifty deal!
Along with the three games mentioned in the $20 reward, receive copies of The Oil Blue and The Sandbox of God: Remastered when they come out in 2010. You will also receive a Special Thanks credit in Liquisity 2!
Along with the $30 rewards, you will receive a physical copy of the game upon release on a mini-CD inside a fully functional Betta Aquarium. Also inside the aquarium are two glossy artwork cards with vouchers on the back of them to download Liquisity 2 for free (makes for great gifts), a small starter's manual, and a few bonus extras inside!
Get the $50 rewards, plus a physical copy on vinyl CD inside a soft Viewpak sleeve w/original cover art of the following games: The Winter Solstice, Kablooey!, greenTech, Spirits of Metropolis, ShellBlast, The Sandbox of God: Remastered, Liquisity 2, and a "classic" compilation CD of all the other games I've released. Each vinyl CD will have custom cover art as well as a custom Viewpak case for each, giving off a pseudo-retro feel. You will also receive a postcard w/artwork for each for the following games: Sandbox of God: Remastered, ShellBlast, Spirits of Metropolis and the Oil Blue, with vouchers on each card to download the game for free!

I've been making indie games for the last nine years or so now, and have started the difficult process of trying to transition from a freeware hobby to a commercial career. But I know I can do it, because I'm surrounded by a really excellent team and some great opportunities. Wish me luck!
