Los Angeles' Premier Body Painting Art Exhibit for Artists by Artists

Saturday, August 25th at the Cooper Design Space Building

The fine Mona Lisa will never seize to flaunt her success on the walls of the Louvre. Michelangelo’s David continues to leave his weight on the world and body standards for years to come. Van Gogh’s bloody ear story has always been enough justification for his rough and emotional post-impressionist paintings. Andy Worhol banked on the world’s acceptance of commercialized pop art. And speaking of banks, Banksy turned street art into an urban phenomenon. It doesn’t take much to stop and remember why these artists will remain in our memories forever; yet, there is another form of fine art that washes away a tad too quickly. So quickly that it often goes unnoticed in terms of historical reference. Fret not. We are here to resolve this crisis.

Body paint is a raw form of artistic expression between an artist and a human canvas. Body paint is an art that breathes, feels, and engages with an audience. Sure. We could just photograph it. But why compete with Photoshop? Body painting is about more than just the finished product. It’s about sharing an emotional experience however deep or light-hearted. It is not an art form that can be framed or captured through a lens. It must be lived, remembered, and recorded in history as a visually astounding memory.
 

Chroma Coalition brings together the most respected artists in the body painting industry to showcase the finest executions of living art, but Chroma Coalition is a living and breathing entity as well. It starts with our collection of seasoned talent and it ends with you! When you arrive to Chroma Coalition you are not just a spectator. You are now a part of the journey. Each of you bring your own talents to the table. And for one day, everyone is a body painter and a canvas. Chroma means color. Coalition means unity. Together we enrich the beauty and awareness of what body painting truly represents. A reason to acknowledge the essence of your body. An opportunity to express yourself and embrace that of others. A method to literally draw out inner beauty and create an outer body experience. And I repeat – literally.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

Whether you're a writer, a photographer, a sculptor, an illustrator, an actor, or poet - Each of you have a respected forum to share your talents.  Body painters on the other hand have many challenges.  Body painting is often disregarded as pornography or a talent for children's parties. Many people are clueless about the process and the astounding results our artists temporarily bring into the world.  Sure it can be photographed but it is truly a performance to be witnessed. 

Los Angeles, CA is the entertainment capital of the world.  Our goal is to bring together supporters of body painting from Fashion, Photography, Theater, Models, Actors, the Beauty Industry, and Art Enthusiasts from all over our city to come together for one day and emerge themselves in the act of body painting.  All in the presence of body painting's most celebrated artist. Each featured artist will be painting a live exhibition individually.

Most body painting events that exist today are primarily industry driven and typically not targeted towards a general public. Or they serve to make our artists compete for money.  THIS IS EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT WE ARE DOING. Our goal is to celebrate our artists in the utmost refinement with class.  But most importantly to execute the biggest public display of the finest body painting anyone has ever seen under one roof. Try and picture 800 painted bodies in one room. TRANSFORM YOURSELF & HELP US CREATE A MEMORY OF A LIFETIME.

WHAT YOUR DONATIONS DO FOR US!

A typical art exhibit is already known to cost some $$$.  But a body painting exhibit is going to cost $$$$$$$$$$.  

1. The greatest body painters are ALL OVER THE WORLD.  In order to create the impact we are aiming for WE NEED TO FLY AND HOUSE OUR DREAM TEAM TO LOS ANGELES.

2.  The paint...OH the paint.  Paint is not cheap.  WE ARE PAINTING THE ENTIRE AUDIENCE of Chroma Coalition in addition to featured works.  And the audience themselves will be presented with stations where they can paint themselves and each other.  

3.  Location. Location. Location! Something this unique doesn't fit quite just anywhere. But in the heart of LA's Fashion District we found the perfect home for Chroma Coalition.  WE NEED TO RENT THE COOPER DESIGN SPACE.

4. Many art installations have to be built on the premise to allow for special exhibition stations in addition to the ones reserved for the general public. HELP US FILL OUR RAW SPACE.

5. Documenting this entire unique experience is a challenge without enough crew.  WE NEED TO HIRE A FILM CREW & PHOTOGRAPHERS to make sure all our efforts remain a part of history forever.  Chroma Coalition is a one time event.  It's our one shot to show our city what we've got.  Please help us make sure our statement doesn't wash away with the paint minutes after we've come this far.
