About this project
Musicians Lon Eldridge, John Boulware, and Christie Burns are going to Belgium in August, 2011 to participate in the Flanders Ethno international young musicians project. This annual gathering attracts musicians between the ages of 16 and 30 from many different countries, and we will be the first American delegates to participate. The participants each bring a traditional tune from their home culture, forming a "folk orchestra" that performs at the Dranouter Folk Festival on August 8th.
We will produce a book featuring photos of the people we meet, stories about our experience there, and musical transcriptions of the tunes we learn from the other participants. The book will be accompanied by a cd of the tunes we collect during the week.

A very generous friend of a friend donated plane tickets to us, and we're so grateful! This fundraising is to help us with a few other costs associated with the trip, including transportation within Belgium, food, and some sightseeing that we hope to do before the Ethno week begins.

Come find out on June 30th at the Hunter Museum of American Art! We'll be performing on the patio from 6 to 8 that night. Regular admission to the museum gets you in, and members get in free. http://www.huntermuseum.org/event/269/
