About this project

Unconferences are cool, but space unconferences are AWESOME.

SpaceUp brings together the nerdiest of the nerdy, and (surprisingly) the artiest of the arty as well. These aren't just rocket scientists; they're makers, entrepreneurs, social mavens. And they're awesome.

At the most recent SpaceUp in Washington, DC, the creativity was like a nuclear reaction. It built and grew, until this little gem appeared on a chalkboard at the Science Club bar. (Text by Doug Ellison; photo by Cariann Higginbotham.) Now you can have it on a t-shirt.

Once the (modest!) funding goal is met, the San Diego Space Society will produce a one-color silk-screen design of this artwork, hand-traced to reproduce it in the highest fidelity possible. The design will be printed on American Apparel 100% cotton t-shirts, in white on a dark green* that reminds you of science-room chalkboards. The shirts will be printed by Planet Apparel, the source of the original SpaceUp shirts as well as the high-quality "space is the new black" shirts sold at the Space Travelers Emporium.

Your backing funds will be used to cover the cost of printing your shirts, plus an initial run to be sold at the Emporium. Money left over (plus proceeds from the Emporium sales) will be used to create the SpaceUp Foundation, which will support and fund SpaceUp events around the world.

If the funding goal isn't met, these shirts WILL NOT BE MADE. It's up to you to be awesome.

* Dark green will be the default color, but you awesome backers can choose your own from a select set of American Apparel colors. Leave a comment if you have a favorite.
