Update #8: Mixing

Posted on January 31

Happy New Year!

Our album is now in the hands of Jon Evans. Known internationally for his bass playing with Tori Amos, Jon is also a skilled mixing engineer with more than 20 years of experience under his belt. He's been sending us drafts of his work so far, and it sounds AWESOME. We're very grateful to have him working with us, and we're thankful to you all who helped make it happen!

We wish you the best in this year of the dragon. =)

Update #7: Thank you.

Posted on November 12, 2011

On behalf of Choose to Find, I'd like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You have provided the funds to help complete this album, and Kickstarter has offered a service that has allowed us to unify those funds. With that comes so much more though. To feel connected to you all, and to feel like we can offer something to the world through music... that is a good feeling. If you gave because you love the music, or see the potential in our music, then that is something that connects us.  If you gave because you are our friends and family, and could care less about what our music actually sounds like, that also connects us. Regardless of the variety of reasons for giving, you gave, and I sincerely thank you for that feeling of connectedness that it has offered. It feels really good. While Max and I are on the opposite side of the globe from most of you, and Colin and Andy are in New England, a feeling of connectedness can be very helpful in relieving homesickness as well. So, once more, THANK YOU!

We're looking forward to watching this unfold, releasing Songs Without Words, and offering the gifts that you selected for your donations. Stay tuned for updates.

With Love,

Todd

Posted on November 11, 2011

Well folks, we are down to the wire here. We're a mere 24 hours away from the end of our Kickstarter campaign and thanks to all of you generous backers, we are totally within reach of our goal. Everyone's been asking me, "Is it going to happen?!" My response is always optimistic, because I think there are enough people out there that REALLY want to hear this record. But it's not up to me whether or not we hit our mark - we need more backers! Please help spread the word by sharing our Kickstarter link on Facebook, Twitter and any other means you can. Copy and paste this: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/choosetofind/songs-without-words Thank you so much for your support!

Formed in Boston in 2006, Choose to Find is an unconventional rock group in that they use a combination of acoustic piano and electric guitar as the primary melodic voices. (Imagine an inventive singer-songwriter band that requires no vocalist.) This configuration has helped Choose to Find carve their own spot somewhere in between the post-rock and jazz genres. "My songwriting is greatly influenced by film music, so most of the songs are like a soundtrack for my life," says Todd Marston, pianist and songwriter for the group. "Everyone appreciates a good story and all of Choose to Find’s songs are based on stories."

Fans of Choose to Find thrive on the high-energy emotional rollercoaster that their songs provide. About their unique sound, Sonic Frontiers wrote, “Choose to Find puts on an aural spectacle unlike any other,” and they “go beyond the overdone post-rock trends”, while Daily Vault wrote that Choose to Find’s music takes the listener on “a vastly entertaining safari into unexplored musical territory.”

Somewhat parallel to modern art, Choose to Find leaves it up to the listener to decide what tale their music is telling. "That's part of the beauty of instrumental music," says Marston. "The narrative is not dictated by words, so each performance tells a different story depending on what we and the audience are experiencing and feeling in the moment." Whether hearing them for the first time or listening to them on repeat, one thing is certain: Choose to Find’s music will bring listeners on a memorable journey through instrumental song every time.
