PETER MAYHEW TO REIGN AS KING OF THE 2013 INTERGALACTIC KREWE OF CHEWBACCHUS MARDI GRAS PARADE

“RETURN OF THE WOOKIEE”


The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus is thrilled to announce that Peter Mayhew and his wife Angie will be the Royalty of the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus Parade in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 26th, 2013. The Mayhews will ride in royal Carnival splendor atop a specially built Millennium Falcon Golf Cart Parade Contraption.

Peter Mayhew is the towering gentle giant responsible for bringing Chewbacca to life in the Star Wars films. Mayhew, who stands 7'3", was born in Barnes, England and currently lives in Texas with his wife Angie. Mr. Mayhew is also founder of the Peter Mayhew Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports Children's Hospitals, Wounded Warrior Centers, and both special need and at risk children.

The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus is a New Orleans based Mardi Gras parade organization that celebrates all facets of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror fandom. Now in its 3rd year, the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus has grown from its humble beginning as a bar room joke into a powerful alliance of over 500 dues paying members who march with a fleet of homemade parade contraptions and incredible costumes. This self described "Open Source DIY Parade Organization" is open to anyone who pays the $42 membership dues and shows up on parade day in costume.

The 2013 Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus Parade will march on an all new route through the Historic Faubourg Marigny neighborhood with the theme "Return of the Wookiee". This years parade will include several new parade contingents including: Krewe du Who (a Doctor Who themed Cosplay group), the Mystic Krewe of P.U.E.W.C. (People for the inclusion of Unicorns, Elves, and Winebots in Chewbacchus) and Krewe of the Living Dead (a zombie/horror themed krewe).

We've met our initial fundraising goal and the Millenium Falcon Golfcart is on its way to becoming a reality.  This is very exciting!  Big thanks to everyone who made this project a success and has donated to support the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus and our efforts to make the galaxy a better place thru BacchanALIEN Revelry.

We got 25 days left... Lets keep rocking this fundraiser!  Any additional funds raised will go towards upgrades, enhancements, and awesome additions to our Millenium Falcon Golfcart.  Lets create something EPIC!
