About Cheryl Eve
Hi my name is Cheryl Eve Acosta. I am a jewelry artist and metalsmith interested in creating body adornment that functions as a form of clothing. I am originally from Puerto Rico but I currently reside in Kansas City, MO working as a full time artist.
Previous to my move here, I was at the Rhode Island School of Design working on my master’s degree in Jewelry and Metalsmithing. My education there taught me to think beyond the traditional ways of accessorizing the body and it inspired me to see art on the figure as an installation of a walking canvas; in this case my goal is to show my designs on a runway with Nicky Janzen.
The Project
Each summer the West 18th St Fashion Show features eighteen collections from a select group of local and national artists with the goal of showcasing emerging talent in Kansas City, MO. Designer’s work around a specific theme, which changes annually making every event a new experience.
This year, my concept for the theme, Summer in Spain is inspired is derivative of the armored metalwork of Spanish conquistadores with a modern, feminine, Flamenco inspired twist.
About Nicky Janzen
I am a professional tailor who has been sewing for 15 years and owner of snick.biz. Last year, I was lucky to meet and collaborate with Cheryl Eve. Helping Cheryl bring her designs to life was an immensely rewarding experience and one that we hope to repeat again, this year, with your support.
Purpose for the Funding
What we really need your help with is offsetting the cost of raw materials, -specifically molding materials, copper for the jewelry and fabric for the dresses. In exchange for your support, we are offering several incentives. Some of these rewards are geared toward Kansas City are patrons while others are appropriate for people living anywhere.

$120 Gift One handmade two dimensional copper Skin Brooch jewelry (a reusable metal tattoo) with adhesive, packaged in a silkscreen box by Cheryl Eve. Care and instructions are included. Please note this Skin Broach is more elaborate than the one I will be sending. It will be similar pattern.
$210 Gift Two laminated paper wallets for business cards or credit cards, a package of Cheryl Eve original rub on tattoos, a silkscreen post card, a purse with handles, and a copper Skin Brooch jewelry.
$260 Gift Handmade limited edition necklace from Cheryl Eve's Mare Nigrum collection. Made with sterling silver, copper, pearls and swarovski crystals.

$90 Gift Six hours of clothing alteration or other sewing with Nicky Janzen; these can be for hemming, resizing, or tailoring.
$210 Gift Ten hour weekend Jewelry Work Shop of choice with Cheryl Eve. Classes vary from learning how to make earrings, enameling, bracelet or rings and includes tools and materials. For an additional cost, silver may be purchased. Open for beginners age twelve and up.
$310 Gift A punch card for twelve hours of clothing alterations & ten-hour weekend Jewelry Work Shop of choice.
