What i want to do

I will publish a  coffee table photography book that will raise positive awareness of tattooing and women, showing them not as objects, but as powerful, intelligent, equal, sentient beings who deserve much respect.  My biggest supporters have always been women.  I dedicate this to my mother, my sisters, my grandma, and my best friend of 22 years...each represented by a tattooed star on my arm that reads "Eternal Love" in Chinese.

in early 2009 i suffered a traumatic head injury in a home invasion in San Francisco this resulted in my being an a coma state for several. days  While i was in that coma i had very real tactile yet surreal dreams, some of those dreams i had visions of images like the ones i create that you see that i am placing this book. when i woke up from this i held on those images in my head. Also when i woke up i was surrounded by women mostly. friends , family , some that i still don't know who they were . my little sister went out of her way to take care of me

and looking around my life and realized that all my best friends are women, always have been, my mom and i were close , my grandma surely a huge influence in my world and i wanted to do something honored the women in my life, something that portrayed women as powerful , commanding of respect and dignity, that portrays that. 

After the vision dream of my self standing in a art gallery surrounded by photographs that were edited and made into art just you see here in this project i knew what i wanted to create but ,

I wondered how i would do it for a long time  because as a result of my injury i lost most of the use of my right hand (i was prominently right handed) and was worried. wandering a camera store asked was there anything for lefty's camera wise ? never has there been a left handed camera made , but i discovered a combination made by Sony that allowed me to take photos , left handed .... was off and running

So i have built this amazing project,

While tattoos are more and more a part of the mainstream culture and widely accepted heavily tattooed women still looked viewed as outside of the norm, stupid right ??? So i decide to put together a gallery shows and a coffee table book project  of the power of a woman making the free will choice adorning their temples that is the human body. this project is going to about women with art on their bodies , women of every size shape and ethnicity.

using skills and types of editing that i have learned and am honing to highlight the ink that is under their skin to present them to world . a portion of my personal profits will be donated to the victims of violent crime fund and to anti domestic violence causes such as battered women's shelters  

How i plan to do it

I plan to publish this book through www.blurb.com.  The tools they offer there have a way you can turn the project into a book for a cause.

I have several ways to find models for my project, beginning with photographing my friends.  I will also be finding models through internet modeling sites (such as Model Mayhem), online ads on networking social sites, and fliers.  I've made fliers on photograph paper to distribute to tattoo shops, conventions, car shows, etc..

What the money is for

I am raising money to rent a better space to shoot the photos of my models, photography gear, lenses, lighting, and enough to pay makeup artists and models.  I will need to cover the cost of printing and distributing fliers, and prints and frames for gallery shows to gain interest in this book.  Finally, enough money to publish and distribute the book.
