About this project
DRAG HIM OUT! is conceptualized as a slick action short, mixing the visual style of anime classic Cowboy Bebop with the deliberately paced bullet-lust of Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns.
My characters speak in hushed tones of amused understatement, letting the tension of the narrative and the design of the shots do the majority of the telling. This is a technique that I have been writing with for some time now, and DRAG HIM OUT! is the perfect opportunity to see how it translates to the screen. Recently graduated from the film program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, I am excited to draw on my training as a director, a performer, and a storyteller.
To achieve the look hypersaturated-noir look of the film, I have asked constant collaborator Tripp Green to come on as Director of Photography. Our last project, Laugh, And Love Life, played as an official selection of the 17th Annual Cucalorus Film Festival. DRAG HIM OUT! returns us to the narrative world, and we welcome all of the creative challenges that come back with it.
Everyone says how filmmaking is a collaborative effort. I've heard it. I know it. But now with the first (budgeted) narrative of my post-college career, I'm starting to feel it. We need all of the support we can get to bring this project together.
Of our total budget of $15,000, we are hoping to raise $10,000 via kickstarter. This money will be used towards the rental of lights, generators, camera lenses, blank-firing weaponry, costumes, and design expenses. Any donation, whatever size, entitles you to production updates, pictures, and videos as they become available. With these as the base perks, reward offerings grow with the size of the contribution.
Thanks for taking the time to peruse our plea, and please consider donating (or goading others to do it for you) if you dig what we're trying to do.
Cheers!

Recently graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, I have always been and will always be a student of film. Having experimented with the medium and fawned over my stylistic influences, it is my goal to create something that - while being directly informed by decades of cinematic expression - is uniquely my own.
Fresh off of a 6-month stint as Assistant Art Department Coordinator for the Showtime series 'Homeland,' I am looking to pursue my creative interests in writing and directing before jumping onto the next big show.
I am thankful to all of those who have supported my efforts and kept me in motion thus far.
