About this project

We need your help to make an awesome horror-comedy short film. In Always a Bridesmaid, a night of fun and naughtiness at The Voodoo Lounge before Valerie’s wedding day descends into utter chaos when Janet, her maid of honor, becomes possessed by an evil voodoo loa spirit and begins horribly killing members of the wedding party one by one. Despite the aid of two male strippers unwittingly caught up in the carnage, this bride may not get out of her bachelorette party alive!

It will be a crazy, irreverent, comically violent, and jam-packed 15 minutes. We need your support to make it, and make it well! Always a Bridesmaid is the first salvo in what we intend to be an ongoing campaign of full-on, balls-out, and crazy-enjoyable cult films. We want to make the next generation of "midnight movies," great genre movies that you'll want to watch over and over again with your friends. The "next generation" part means that although these movies will be over-the-top, bloody, scary, sexy, hysterical and weird, they will always have well-written characters, a solid story, clever dialogue, and good production values. We believe you can make a cheap movie (in every sense) really well, and that's what we intend to do.

We have gathered a great group of up-and-coming actors, special effects people, designers, CGI experts, crew people, and other collaborators. They're all willing to work for free on this project! But we're seeking funding for all of the hard costs to make this movie the way it should be made. Those costs include special effects, construction and rental of props and scenery, location fees, equipment rentals for the stuff we can't borrow, food for our cast and crew, fuel, permits, post production equipment, and so on. Once we complete this movie, we'll screen it at film festivals, use it as a starting point for more ambitious movies, and eventually self-distribute it online.

Embrace the questionable taste and campy fun of Always a Bridesmaid! Be a part of the next genre movement! Help us spill a few buckets of blood! Your donation will not only help us make a fun, crazy movie, but it will send good karma your way; the Seven African Powers will smile on you for helping some young filmmakers. In addition to acknowledgment on our website and in the credits of the film, we'll have some cool stuff from the movie to share in thanks for your support. More importantly, we'll be spreading some good mojo our backers' way with a series of custom-made voodoo spells and good luck charms...see the column to the right for details.

Thank you in advance for helping us make our movie. We are incredibly grateful!

PS--If you're on the fence, don't just take our word for it. Contact us and we'll be happy to send you a few sample pages of our completed script...which is quite vivid indeed.
