About this project
Who is Charlie Mosbrook?
I am a songwriter that has been writing and performing music throughout the northeast Ohio area for over 20 years. I have become best known for my dedication to the Open Mic format having hosted many of the most popular Cleveland stages during my career. My goals have always been to maintain affordable family friendly live entertainment within our community. In the past year I have been undergoing treatment and therapy for a spinal cord injury. During this time, many of my older songs were performed by some of the area's best performers and packaged in a CD collection that was released in January of this year to aid me in my recovery. During this time I was also voted Cleveland's best Singer/songwriter in a Scene Magazine readers poll. Despite my toughest challenge, this has been a great year in my life.
A new CD?
Since my spinal cord injury, I have enjoyed one of my most creative periods as a songwriter. With new songs like "Up on my Feet" " Walking ain't Easy" "Nothing to Lose" "Cat-nipped" and "Little by Little" this latest collection of original works is in my opinion my best.
These songs have been recorded and are currently in post production.

The goal of this project is to raise the funds necessary to get this collection packaged for CD. During the time this collection was being produced. My hope is to release this new group of songs as a response and companion to the "Coverage" project, with the same level of packaging and promotion. If this pledge drive is successful the new CD will be released on August 6th with a concert in Cain Park's Alma Theater. Why does this project need funding?
Despite the amount of work I do in the community as a musician, I still live with a very modest income. I have always been compelled to invest all of my energy into the music for the sake of the music and the community. The personal income that I have been able to draw from this work has been limited due to a variety of reasons. With so much music being freely available on the internet, and the rising cost business of the small venues where I primarily perform, my ability to present this music has become more and more dependent on donations from those that enjoy it most. The opportunity presented by Kickstarter.com has given me a way to maintain listener supported music. In many ways, this is liberating. Thank you for your support.

Connected as Charlie Mosbrook (2757 friends)
Recipient of the title "Best singer/songwriter" in the 2011 Cleveland Scene Magazine readers poll, Charlie Mosbrook has amassed a collection of songs respected and enjoyed by his audience and musical peers alike. In early 2011 the CD “Coverage: The Songs of Charlie Mosbrook” was released including 17 performances of his music by many of Northeast Ohio's most prominent acts. He performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum during the American Masters series, "Hard Travelin': The Life and Legacy of Woody Guthrie." He has shared the stage with musicians like CSN, Jewel, Iris Dement and many other major acts. His music has been performed on NPR and FolkAlley.com. Performing with a deep soulful voice and eclectic distinctive acoustic guitar style, Charlie's sincerity in song is complimented by his playful introspective wit. Having suffered a spinal cord injury in 2010, this former triathlete/marathoner's inspiring response to tragedy reverberates throughout his performances with his most recent music reflecting his unwavering determination over adversity.
