Welcome to The Fabulous Downey Tour!
As many of you already know, we were barely into Week Two of our Kickstarter campaign when a generous donor helped us achieve our goal and then some! As of now we have met our Kickstarter goal which means we will be able to benefit from all that you've contributed towards our tour and make it happen for real! Thank you soooooo much one and all!
But what do we do with one week left?
Well now that our basic tour needs are met, we can start looking at directing additional funds toward other necessities like...
- Merchandise creation and development (more t-shirt options, props for fans to use during our shows)
- 3 meals a day instead of just 2 (plus healthy items like fruits and veggies)
- Supplies to repair our costumes and props (fabric, adhesives, and thread) and back up our gear on the road (extra strings, straps, picks and sticks, etc.)!
We are soooooo thrilled and relieved to know we can make this tour happen on the most basic level - every bit of our success is because of you, our precious backers. With one week left we are declaring it OFFICIAL CRUNCH TIME so if you haven't shared word of this project somewhere online, now's your final chance. Let's end with a big bang!

(from May 31st) The Fabulous Downey Brothers are thrilled to be kicking off their first ever tour this August with America's greatest air guitar band AIRPOCALYPSE (from America's Got Talent)! After winning both the fans' and judges' pick for Best Live Band at this year's Olympia Music Awards, we started to wonder how the rest of the country would feel about us - that's why we're hitting the road with a small stint down the west coast to test the touring waters!
At the moment we have ten stops lined up in cities like Portland, Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Francisco. We are locking down venues as we speak and have a van on reserve, ready to go. Our swag is being made and inventoried. Our friends and fans are spreading the word. We even have someone to watch the cats while we're away...!
We plan to combine our earnings from Kickstarter with what we individually and collectively save between now and August from our live shows. The success of this campaign will assist us with the basics we need to tour:
Lodging (1 room w/ a AAA discount for 6 people)
Food and Drink (2 meals / day)
Transportation and Fuel (1 van traveling approx. 2,500 mi.)
AAA and Repair Costs (1-yr. membership plus oil changes, safety inspection)
Any contribution regardless of size is hugely helpful and very much appreciated and gets us that much closer to our modest goal. If you're strapped for cash, no worries there - simply sharing this campaign with others is great as well - and it won't take but a moment of your time!
In closing, we know that touring seems like a crazy idea nowadays. Let's face it - with gas prices skyrocketing and YouTube proving such an easy, direct outlet to fans what's the point of wasting all that time and money hitting the road? Well, the answer is simple - there is just no replacing the live show experience, period. The sights... the sounds... the energy coming off the stage and the crowd... these are things you can't replicate even with a bazillion pixels in HD 3D. We all grew up experiencing our favorite bands live and these shows were nothing short of life-changing. We firmly believe that there are simply no digital substitutes for that kind of spectacle. With your support we're confident we can offer this live experience via our summer tour - and we can't thank you enough for the chance to do so.
